Remove bolts where handle use to be drop it down. make sure hood is up first, find where cable ties into hood release it should unclip or slide out when unhooked, use channel locks . pool cable out through the inside of car noting where it enteres the firewall. replace in reverse fashion that you took it out. hope this helps

Handle inside will not open the hood....

I'm going to tell you how( thinking the handle inside the car broke). This handle is made of plastic(replacement handle is a dealer item, pay to much for it), and the cable behind it usually breaks at the plastic connector. you need a pair of vise grips. attach the vice grips to the cable, and pull. It will release the hood. Now if the cable itself broke going to the hood, you will have to remove the grill( is held in place by screws). Remove the grill, and you will be able to pull the release pin on the hood latch, releasing the hood. hope this helps, and please rate, helpful or not

The hood latch handle on my 1995 jeep gr cher broke ! Is there a way I can get the hood unlatched? It broke all the way down to the bracket that holds it in place.

You can get a replacement at any scrapyard. To open the hood, carefully cut the outer covering on the cable under the dash and pull the inner cable with a pair of pliers. Or if the plastic part of the pull is just gone, grab the shaft with pliers and pull that without cutting anything.

The handle broke off on my 2003 jeep grand cherokee laredo liftgate. how can i open it now? i can't find anything on the inside in the back and my tail light is out.

You will need to remove the interior panle from the loft gate to axess the latch
there is 4 screws along the bottom of the panle to remove then carfuly pull the panle away from the lift gate there is plastic clips that hold the panle to the gate these may need to be replaced when re installing the panle they can be purchased at the jeep dealer.
now look into the lift gate and you will see where the handle rod conects to the latch lift on this rod and the gate will open
to replace the handle remove the 2 10 mm bolts and disconect the rod from the latch install the new handle and rod to the latch install the 2 10 mm bolts. install the panle and 4 screws
this should cover it

Cable to hood latch broke how can I get hood open

first, try smacking the hood at one of the front corners while someone else pulls the release handle. or even after you've pulled on it. if that works, once open, adjust and lubricate the hood latch assembly. if it still won't open, and it's the cable and not the latch you'll have to replace it anyway, so instead of removing the grill, cut the cable behind the pull lever under the dash where you can reach it. then skin the outer cable insulation away from the actual steel cable exposing an inch or two of it. then holding the insulation and plastic housing with pliers, grab the steel cable itself with pliers and pull it to open the hood. then replace the cable. the further you can reach up under the panel the better your chances of getting past the broken part of the cable and avoid removing the grill. you might also be able to gain access from up under the car if you're lucky.

Hood release broke

you are going to have to either remove the panneling to get at the cable and pull it with vise grip or try to get up inside the hood from the front and release the latch that way . either way is going to be tough to get to.

How do I open the hood of a '95 K1500if the latch release fails?

You may have a disconnected cable, or the release spring won't pop up the hood. First try having someone else lift up on the hood as you try the release, this may open it. If not, the cable may be disconnected, where you will need to pull the plastic pannel off inside your truck where the hood release lever is. Inspect the handle, and where the cable goes into it. Also try using a pair of pliers on the cable once it's off the handle, because it may be stretched or broke. If that does it, you will need another cable, or just carry the pliers with you.
Hope this helps
