Question about 1995 Chevrolet S-10 CA Edition

1 Answer

1995 Chev s-10 Blazer

I am trying to remove the dash and have it about halfway off. I appears to be stuck on the Emergency brake cable. I am trying to replace the heater core and am at a stand still. I have the Haley Repair manual, but there are no directions on removing the dash. I have disconnected all the wires and such, have the steering wheel down and can not get the dash pulled away far enough to actually remove the old heater core. Any suggestions? I actually went to the website for the OHIO library and can not get the repair manual and diagrams to come up. Need help please...

Removing dash board on 2001 Chevy Blazer to replace heater core. having problems with removing emergency brake cable.

e emergency brake cable has to be removed at the pedal on the kick panel and not at the dash pay attention on removal and repeat steps to reinstall as it can be slid in from the front of the dash for new install but has to be removed in reverse steps

How do i get my emergence brake latch off so i can remove my dash

pull the black trim piece under the dash off and follow the emergency brake cable down to the pedal and you will see where its hooked the cable is just like on a bike brake handle it has a little round end turn it till the cable lines up with the notch in the top of the brake pedal and slide it off then you should be able to remove your dash

2000 chevy Blazer Emergency brake stuck on. Was

Sounds like a likely possibility, the reverse method definetly did the trick in loosening the brake, but it may still be slightly applied, put it in a warm place when you can, or have a shop look at it indoors, it may need to be re-adjusted, or even just warmed up until the cable frees up again

Emergency brake stuck

Stuck on? If so sounds like you have frozen e-brake cables. In that case you'll have to cut the cables to get the e-brake to release then replace the cables.

Something broke when I applied the emergency brake and now the brake is locked in the ON position and stuck in my driveway

Sounds like the release cable broke. Does it have a lever near the driver's side dash to release? Check the bottom of the vehicle for a length of steel cable laying on the ground. To release, try grabbing the cable with a pair of vice grips and pull toward the front of the vehicle, this should engage the release to let the parking brake off.

Rear brake lights do not work.

The brake light that is on the dash is for the emergency brake...When that light is on that is supposed to tell you that the emergency brake is applied if the brake is not applied then you need to service the emergency brake. And on the brake pedal there is a coupler that is hooked up to the pedal bracket that wire may be soft set try gently snapping it into place.

Emergency brake stuck on. can't go backward, forward ok.2001 chev silverado

There should be an emergency release lever under the dash on the pedal itself.Be careful, they come loose with a bang & can cause serious damage to fingers.Good luck,
