As the socket is loose, I have to get access to the back of it and tighten the nut. What panels need to be removed, and how do you remove them to gain access?

SOURCE: cigarette lighter doesn't work

before u pull panel, check for 12vdc with voltmeter inside lighter socket. If u have it, then clean contacts and/or replace lighter(not socket, wiring is fine) May save a lot of work. If you don't have voltage are you 100% sure you have right fuse and not the one below, above, or next to it? I still make mistakes with numbered fuses, which number is for which fuse. To make sure I start counting at 1.

SOURCE: My Mazda 3 cigarette lighter socket quit working.

It's under and behind the glovebox.

The black panel has clips like on a gameboy battery compartment, with that removed, you still won't see fuses. There's two skrews near the hinge (on the outside of the glovebox), turn these counterclockwise with your hands. The fusebox will swing down.

The cigar lighter is a blue 15A fuse on the left side closest to the driver's seat.

How do i know which fuse is for the cigarette lighter in my 2010 Mazda 2?

you might want to use a voltage tester to see if there is juice in the lighter socket first.
There is a probe like an ice pick to touch at the center electrode inside the lighter socket, and the alligator clip goes to the ground.
If the test light lights, the fuse is good.

How do i find out if its the cigarette lighter port or a fuse that needs replacing on my 2008 Mazda 5?

I pulled fuse 4 from the inside fuse box on the passenger side dashboard, but quickly realized it is for the rear power outlet, not the cigarette lighter outlet. The cigarette lighter outlet is fuse number 6. They are both blue 15A fuses.

Before replacing lighter socket, try gluing it with super glue. Sounds like your only problem is that socket is moving because of broken plastic. Or you can buy aftermarket accessory plugs from autoparts stores and you can get them with up to three outlets for multiple plug ins.

Cigarette lighter does not get hot. Replacement

there are two prongs inside the lighter socket that you can bend in a little bit, these usually stay out if you've left a phone charger in. use something non metalic to bend the tabs in or you will blow the fuse for the lighter socket, hope this helps

Cigarette lighter sockets no power

Cell phone chargers commonly blow the fuses at the power points. It seems that our charger adaptors do not match the socket properly, and the positive part of the charger hits the negative of the socket, resulting in a blown fuse. If you have a charger, and it works, leave it in the socket. Don't take it with you. Repeated insertions of the adaptor to the socket magnifies this issue.
