Question about 1998 Chrysler Town & Country
Brake light problems- tail lights work-3rd brake light works but the 2 main ones dont bulbs are good fuses good
Do your dash lights go out too? .. corroded wires (you can do an insulation breakdown test), or its grounding out in the console, but that would most likely blow the fuse. check to make sure u r looking at the right fuse too, wires can be connected to other random components, for example you may find your horn doesnt work either. and being as you have 3 brake lights, it may be possible they are on 2 diff fuses
hope this helps some!

I had the same problem on my 07 and it turned out to be caused by the bulbs getting too hot and melting the surrounding plastic which opened the circuit powering them. I was able to fix the problem by removing the bulbs and cleaning the sockets allowing the bulbs to seat correctly. The lenses snap off to give you access to the bulbs. If you are not familiar with how interiors of cars come apart, I would not suggest doing it as you may crack the lens.

You have two bolts to remove the caliper (it will still be attached to the flex hose). then use a C clamp to compress the caliper piston (one side on outside brake pad the other end on the back of the caliper). Inspect other components, replace pads and reinstall. I would highly recommend replacing rotors as well or at least having them turned. Its a pretty easy job if you have done similar jobs in the past.

encrypted software ,dealer only----yes i know you are showing a reading but it doesnt mean anything or if it does it shows a different code .so your snap on or mac tools scanner is a waste of time and money.Nearly all new motors from 2005 are using encrypted software to stop general mechanics like me from working
