Dodge durango 98 SLT shut down

Hello i have a durango 8cyl 5.9L SLT, when i'm driving it shut down and won't start any more, the car shows the message "security".I looked on forums, they say that it is the speed sensor or the emergency shut off relay, but i don't know where they are located. Can you tell me what is the probleme and where are located the speed sensor and the emergency shu off relay.

Thanks a lot!

You are not going to fix this with the info you have at hand, this has a failure in the security system, most likely the control or ECU unit. Is this a factory system?

I have a 2001 dodge durango 4.7l 8cyl. that shuts off on idle sometimes

Sounds like a weak fuel pump.Check your fuel pressure and if its within specs then replace fuel pump and fuel filter.I think it should be 44-54 psi.Get a repair manual to make sure you have the right specs.

My 1999 Dodge Durango use to just shut down while driving and loose all power, now it cranks strongly but won't start. What's the problem?

First check for spark at any of the sparkplugs and if you have fire then check the fuel pressure. It should be 44-54 psi with key on engine off.If its not within these specs replace the pump.

DODGE DURANGO TROUBLE SHOOTING

The power to the ignition coil comes from the Auto shut down relay. It also runs the fuel pump relay. When you turn the key on it will read 12 volts, but only for about 5 seconds. The auto shut down relay is controlled by the ecm. Check the power on the coil while cranking the engine. When cranking the ecm will lock on the ASD relay.

2004 DODGE DURANGO, 5,9L ENGINE

the message is appearing because a sensor in the transmission, usually in the transmission fluid, detects higher than normal temperatures which is usually a result of increased friction which isnt good. I would get the sensor checked before you get the transmission worked on.
