How to address the ABS light on a 1999 Toyota 4Runner?

I followed a YouTube tutorial about the ABS light on a 1998 Toyota 4Runner, but it seems the 1999 model is slightly different. In the diagnostic box under the hood, I connected a pin from the E1 to Tc slots, turned on my key, and instead of seeing the ABS light flash me the code, the ABS light remained steady and the cruise control light was flashing like mad. I also read that it simply means you need to replace/fix the anti-lock braking system, and the light will go off automatically (an 'optional' fix?). Is there a way to manually use the diagnostic box under the hood to get further information? Thanks!

SOURCE: 1993 Camry Check Engine Light

Therre is no DTC code "5". The DTCs start at 12. If the knock sensor (there are actually 2) was bad, you would have an acceleration issue. The knock sensor changes the timing of the spark to eliminate detonation, or "pinging". Do you have a "Ping" condition/valve rattle on acceleration?
To reset the light, open the hood, remove the 15 amp EFI fuse for 5 minutes. Replace it, and start the car and drive it until it reaches operating temperature. If the light comes back on instantly, you have a bad sensor or a bad wire.

Disconnect the 15 amp EFI fuse in the fusebox under the hood for 5 minutes. I'd appreciate a FIxYa rating for my assistance. Thanks.

Can a diagnostic connector on 1995 Toyota 4 runner be jumped over with jumper wire to get check engine codes?

There is probably a way to access codes by using a jumper and causing the engine checklight or an integral led to flash in groups. I can't say which pin or pins need jumping.

I suggest you ask the question of google and click on the youtube video.

Hello, there could be a lot of different malfunctions that turns this light on, no quick fix or answer, you'll need to get it to a repair shop that can access the abs system to get the diagnostic trouble codes from the computer, then go from there.

How to reset the ABS light on a 1999 Toyota 4runner?

You have to repair the anti lock brake system in order to reset the light. It is not cheap. Most people don't repair it, they just put tape over the light. you still have brakes, just don't have anti lock brakes. My light has been on for 10 years, I took the bulb out of the dash. But I didn't tell you what to do, just what I did. You will have to decide. Hope this helps.

Tail Lights Don't Work

I would take out the tail light fuse and repace with a known good fuse. Use a test light to see if you are getting power at each side of the fuse at the little metal tabs on the top of the fuse.

If you have power at each location, then something happned at the connection. You may need an owners manual with a wiring diagram.
