egr stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation.....it is a system that takes some of the exhaust gasses and recirculates it back into the intake to be re burnt, although this system is necessary for proper emission readings at your tail pipe.it will likely cause no problems with the driving of your vehicle.........the problem could be a faulty egr valve or it could be a problem in the plumbing (pipes and hoses) of the system.Your best bet is to take your vehicle to a trusted mechanics shop to have them inspect the egr system and replace the faulty parts.
