Question about Cars & Trucks
Within a few days of each other both outside door handles ceased opening their doors. The door locks seem to function OK,both with the remote key fob and with the key itself. The inside door handles open the doors fine, although I did manage to break off the one on the passenger side(can that be glued, and if not what is the best source for a used or less expensive replacement part?)Also, the key and fob both work fine to unlock the trunk. The windows on both sides seem to be encountering interference from something and now only go part way down.I removed the driver's side door panel and can feel a metal rod hanging from the top left corner inside the door with a small bit of broken plastic attached to it's hook shaped bottom.I was going to remove the door latch from the end of the door but am currently stymied there until I can borrow what looks like a Torx screwdriver.Should I remove the door handle/lock cylinder assembly? Also any ready idea about what part(s) I'm going to need and where best to get them at a reasonable price? Thanks, Robert

sounds like the rods are disconnected the clips hold the rods in place the latching mechanism holds the handle in place as well did you replace the speakers or did a shop? if a shop did then they caused this if you did then you may have caused this either way untill you reattach the rods none of it will work. you will have to manually open the door at the latch from inside teh door behind the panel.

you will have to take the panel off to see why the inner lock/activator isnt working properly, besides youll have to take it off to fix it anyway.Maybe as simple as a bent handle to lock rod being bent and no longer long enough to activate lock correctly.youll just have to look and see.Let me know what you find

linkage on inside of door has come undone. take off inside door panel and you will find a small rod that goes to the lock mechanism where the door closes opposite the hinges. follow the handle to the door lock.the nylon bushing may have broken.they are cheap to purchase at auto part stores.
