2006 taurus my wife came home from work 15 minutes later we went to leave and the car would not start? seemed like no spark car didn't even sputter when it turned over we were running late so we took our other vehicle the next day i went out and it started hard but started thought maybe a fuel pump was the problem but i am leaning toward a ignition switch being that it did it again the next day and i could hear something clicking under the hood and the car started again only this time i noticed that the gauges did not work and and the car ran hard for about 30 sec then the gauges started working and the car ran fine you shut it off and try again and the same thing?

I reckon it could be your starter motor or battery-did the lights come up onto the dashboard when you turned the key-if they did then it is not the battery

You will need to figure out if you have spark to the plugs, and if not- if you have voltage to the coil to proceed.

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

02 taurus won't move

Torque converter is locking up, common for this model. My wife's is doing the same, just changed filter, fluid, and added Lucas trans fix. Hope this works for a little bit, 2000-2500 to fix this if not.

I recently filled up the gas tank, started the car and drove home(about a mile). My wife got in 15 minutes later and the car would not start. I did find a 15 amp fuse burned out labeled fuel pump. I...

You can try a few things:
  • Remove the gas cap to relieve the fuel pressure and replace
  • Pump the gas repeatedly to force any air out of the fuel lines
  • Prime the system by spraying a little starting fluid into the intake while someone tries to start the car.
I hope this solves your problem. Best of luck.
