Question about 1989 Isuzu Trooper

Front end damage repairs

Unfortunately, I just put my '89 Trooper into a retaining wall on Vail Pass. The interstate was sheer ice, pretty scary. Anyway, now I need to put on a new chrome front bumper, including driver's side bumper end. I will also need to replace/repair the front valance panel, as it is dented. I might just try to bend it back. It's not really all that bad. The hardest part of the repair will be replacing the front driver's side fender. I will need to put on a new black fender, chrome fender molding and maybe the striping. I have been able to find all of the parts I will need, but most of the fenders I am finding do not include the chrome molding. I have also unable to find the molding by itself. Could anybody help me out to solve my problem? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

How do I add fluid for an convertible top toyota celica 1992

There used to be a long- running joke among auto forums and clubs about advising someone to check one's "blinker fluid", if having trouble with their turn signals not working... So you can see the quandary you have put me in: what kind of fluid exactly are we talking about here? . I am so-so familiar with celicas, owned a pretty decent riding '89 (or '87, maybe) model for a short while, ran smooth as ice down the interstate at 80 mph on the initial ride home, but it was def. a beater- had seen better days by the time I bought it for less than $400...yes, better days...8 months later it went to a shadowy grave, due to clipping a wild animal at night. I have no regrets.
If it is conventional fluid to any under hood part, it makes no difference between a convertible and a coupe. The celica generation that included your 1992 model, was the one most enthusiasts favored, on a celica forum I once joined. They sure made fun of Honda owners- calling the accord a grocery-getter...

Transfer case will not shift out of 4wd into 2wd

old post but , others can learn PT 4WD.

that is a transfer case issue.

can be caused, by using 4wd on dry pavement and the damage caused.

that is, the correct action, jack up the front end of car.

then shift to 2wd and leave it there, until l offoard or on ice.

here are the rules for PART TIME 4WD.

and the results of using it wrong.

the damage can be anything, like:

damaged chain, or damaged main gear cogs. bent forks,

etc. damage has NO limits, when you wind it up.

no limits at all. just the guy driving and the forces.

this , all of it , is explained in the operators guide. (usually lost)

99 jeep cherokee drive line sheered at rear end

well first of all take it easy on the burnouts! ha ha. if you sheared the yoke thats a simple fix, youll just have to replace the pinion seal and the nut might be jammed on there pretty good so your going to need an impact wrench and of course a new yoke. and i would have the driveline checked before re-installing, just because it didnt break doesnt mean its not torqued. once you replace the yoke and pinon seal install the drivline and youre good to go. however if you torqued the pinion gear any its game over bro, and repairing the rear end is going to be beyond your skills. (in order to re set, shim and square the rear end you need to be a skilled mechanic, no guess work, no doing it out of a repair manual) hope this helps, good luck

I tighten up the tilt colomn on a 89 chevy truck, got it all back together execpt the lock plate. cant get the plate to go down further enough to put the retainer ring on. please help.

Cut yourself a piece of wood, like a broomstick, about 16 inches long and place it against the lock plate. Put your shoulder against the other end and you should be able to push the plate down and still have your hands free to put the retainer clip on. Hope this helps.

Need to replace starter

I recommend you get the Haynes repair manual on your vehicle. Start by removing the negative battery terminal, then removing the retaining bolts from the starter followed by removing the wires from the starter. Reverse the process to put the new starter on.

How do you take the grille off of a 1996 isuzu trooper 2

See Figures 3, 4 and 5

Fig. 3: Front grille assembly-1984-94 Trooper

Fig. 4: Front grille assembly-1995-96 Trooper

Fig. 5: Retainer clip used to secure the front grille
  1. Raise the hood and support it with the prop rod.
  2. On 1981-94 models, remove the retainer screws from around each headlight.
  3. Remove the retainer screws from the corners and center of the grille.
  4. Using a small prytool to press the tab on each of the grille retainer clips at the top of the grille upward while pulling the grille away from the radiator support.
  5. When all the tabs have been released, lift the grille up slightly and out to remove.
To install:
  1. Engage the lower portion of the grille into the radiator support.
  2. Carefully push the grille toward the radiator support, making sure the retainer clips align with their respective mounting hole. Once all the holes align, press the grille and retainer in until it clicks into position.
  3. Install the retainer screws from the corners and center of the grille.
  4. On 1981-94 models, install the retainer screws around the headlight.

Hope helps (remember rated this).
