F-150 Electric Problem

I am having the exact same problem. I changed the alternator and the battery. Then the battery light was still on and I had to replace the alternator field fuse. The light went out for a couple days but then returned so I changed the fuse again. The next morning the truck wouldn't turn on. Did you have any luck fixing your truck? I can't figure out wants wrong with it.

The regulator built into the alternator should actually limit the current and voltage going to the battery. Try driving with you lights on and see if the light goes out. Then, with the lights off, put a volt meter across the battery and check what voltage is going to the battery. If it is over 14,5v the alternator is overcharging and I think you should take it back for their attention.

Battery light comes on and off. I replaced the alternator 2 monthes ago, I took it back to the garage, and it checked out fine. Could this actually be my battery or something else?

Depends on how the alternator was checked.

If the battery indicator illuminates based upon RPM, could be an issue with the alternator, or the belt slipping on the pulley.

Could also be a battery on the way out, have you changed the battery or had it load tested lately ?

91 f-150 5.0 battery charge light stays lit. replaced the altenator and battery, no change. Where do I go from here?

Rule-of-the-thumb: battery must be fully charged before installing alternator. You could replace the voltage regulator.

Alternator not charging

Hi

If you have a volt meter, set it to volts and hold the negative probe to the alternator body and the positive to the battery positive. If you don't get battery voltage then the alternator isn't grounded and the probable cause is the main engine ground cable either breaking or coming loose.

Very best regards
