go to this website. GM has had a history of faulty transmissions ever since they went to Automatic overdrive, save for the luxury car lines.

Had allot of GM cars an dnever had a single problem in about 1 millon miles of driving. My current Corvette is also trouble free with 85,000 miles on it. Maybe the low end chexper priced models but not the mid size and trucks.

Just a side note, having rebuilt auto transmissions for the past 25 years, no one single manufacture is free of problems. Most are related to heat damage. Which is why most luxury models don't have problems (Corvettes are considered a luxury model) they use supplemental coolers to keep the fluid cool. Proper maintenance and attention to fluid levels keep these units running efficiently with minimal problems. The site suggested is just information for the masses. Knowledge is power.

Slight vibration and rattle at low RPM. Checked under the car and the only thing I can feel vibrating is a transmission mount on the "cone" of the transmission. Anyone have this problem before?

Yes, very common problem. More common is the engine mount, while may look ok, height has been crushed from age. Beware of aftermarket mounts, as they tend to crush more than GM mounts, so the height of the engine/tranny is back to being too low.

2005 Impala hard shift. This happens at random when I stop at a light, then go, when I press the gas sometimes it will slam into gear it seems. No problems sifting other wise, in any gear or from park to...

first step is to change the transmission oil ( GM policy is to not change the oil at regular intervals )
next is to run the fault codes
GM system requires a scanner with the correct protocol to read the modules or you will not get fault codes
what you describe is common and will be well known by accredited specialist transmission shops so you could go and have a proper diagnosis done before spending lots of cash
it is not a transmission problem but a problem of sticking servo/solenoids and adjustments

It will not shift and i have no reverse

Sunshell in the transmission is a common failure in these trucks. The problem wasnt really solved until 2003 when gm started using an updated part. Transmission will have to either be fixed or replaced.

The brakes, when pressed in the front, seem to not stop and slide , brake lights will not come on, transmission shift makes noise when shifting from park to driveand to reverse. I have taken my vehicle...

Brakes - most common is brake pads were replaced with non-OEM pads and/or rotors were machined during the brake service. Use OEM brakes pads and replace, instead of machining, rotors. Again, use OEM parts for best results. GM recommends replacing rotors during brake service on that model, similar to European models. Unfortunately, GM has not priced the rotors as the Europeans have priced theirs.
Transmission noise - I am assuming a "clunk" noise when shifted while at a stop, also known as "garage shift". Most common is the bushings in the rear differential housing mounts. They may look OK upon inspection but when removed they will be split. Second common is similar issue with transmission mount itself, although that is quite rare.
Brake lights - Any competent automotive electrical repair facility should be able to diagnose this as there is an open in the circuit somewhere. That system is relatively simple and stratagy based diagnosis should lead the technician to the problem.

The pressure switch in the transmission needs to be replaced. It is under the side cover. Common problem, see a gm dealer. Transmission is ok just get the pressure sol.switch repalced.

When on a long trip the tranny shifts hard after driving for a while the next day its fine

being a GM 2000 model, Im sure its has many miles, correct me if im wrong. Take it to a GM facility and have the transmission flush and filter change, Older high miles car on domestic car is a common problems. If you have close or 100k miles, have those thing done ASAP. It will solve some of your problems and will give you tranny a bit longer life.dirty or clog tranny filter can cause the problems and shorten the life of the transmission. being a 2000 model, tranny filter should be change every 50k miles. Only newer model have 100k miles maintenance free transmission. hope that help some

2001 buick lesabre, transmission problem?

There is a pressure sol. in the transmission that is bad . This is a common problem that requires removal of the side transmission cover. The transmission does not need to be rebuilt! Talk to a gm dealer. I have sold over a hundred of these pressure sol. and the side cover gaskets to a real gm transmission mechanic that have fixed this problem. GM parts over 20 years.
