Question about 1998 Lincoln Town Car

My 98 lincoln town car blew fuse dealing with heater and ac station were you can also see the temp , well I changed the fuse and then it blew so added bigger fuse worked a lil while now when that blew my speedometor heat station gas gauge and rear airbags wont lift what should i do?

A blown fuse usually means a short somewhere in the electrical system.It could be a worn component e.g. window winder or compressor or any other component that can short to Earth.Are you getting any codes from the dash, are any warning lights on?Regards

check the transmission fluid to make sure it does not smell burnt and make sure it has proper amount in it and when was the last tune up done also check the level of the coolant because if this is low it will cause the transmission to get hotter

I've never heard of replacing STRUTS with shocks.
You do relieze that they mouont to the car differently?

You must have disconnected something when you replaced the heater core. Did you undo any multi-way electrical connectors. Perhaps you blew a fuse?

Which fuse will disable the air conditioner and heating operation in a 98 Lincoln Town Car


I can give you a few ideas about this. 1. A chronic problem is the blower motor resistor which will shut down the blower in all modes. 2. The fuse diagram is available, even video youtube articles by searching the words "air conditioning fuse or heater fuse" and the year, make, and model car. 3. The auto climate control has a diagnostic sequence which can tell you if an a/c or heat part is bad. You can find the activation codes online, but you need the translation to tell what the results are showing from the diagnostics.

My AC blows cold air for a few secs and then there is a thump and it blows hot air


It sounds to me like yu are describing the symptoms of a broken blend-air door or blend air door actuator. In either of these cases, dash removal is required to repair it.

From the sound of your problem I would say that you have a short in the system.It is not uncommon to find the small compressor that lifts the back shocks so badly worn and seized that needs to be replaced.Just in use it creates a lot of moisture and tends to rust out.There used to be a trick with the right-hand door switch all left hand if you're in America, all you had to do was pushed to switch in an out in three seconds three times and it would produce a code e.g. a number of flashes of its warning light.The later models properly have a similar set up.I will delve into it.Or maybe somebody reading this already knows the codes.Regards

1998 lincoln town car when i turn the temp to 90 it still wont get hot have changed the thermostat, and flushed heater core but it still won't get hot the AC works great just don't have no heater...


Just a stab at it................see if there's a vacuum or electric operated valve in the heater hose lines.Trace it out.The heater hose goes from the thermostat area at intake manifold thru the heater core,and back to water pump area. don-ohio

if temp is adj by knowb then could be the cable of knowb is got disconnected from knowb. or if is motor oparated then problem with the a/c control unit. thanks.

i would try www.car-part.com its a nationwide junk yard inventory site theres some great deals there for domestic cars.try to replace the wire conectors at the compressor maybe the freon shorted them out.

98 Lincoln TC,Cold starts fine ,runs good until warm, then shuts off. No codes,Cranks ok, have spark, PATS ok. No fuel pressure, cant hear fuel pump prime,New Fuel relay. jumped fuel pump - works. I do not hear fuel pump prime up, do not have fuel gauge, but pressing on valve in fuel rail- no pressurized fuel. Fuel regulator seems ok, not leaking / vacuum line dry as a bone. If I let it set for 15 min , it will start up again, but for a few minutes then dies out. If I let it set overnight it starts up perfectly and runs until operating temp is reached then stalls/stumbles, and shuts down. Vacuum is good while cranking, even with no start, Checked Inertia switch in trunk, it is not tripped. I have seen Ford TSB summaries' that mention issues like this , but I am not able to see to description. A point to add, the MAF sensor was cleaned, then I decided to replace it and did not make a difference. I do not have any stored codes, and the PATS is working fine, typical 2 second flash from and once key is inserted a 3 second steady light, then disappears. I have seen the TSB mentioning C103 Connector, it looks fine, I swapped out fuel pump relay with ac relay, still no difference.mention of wires around battery, do not know where to start. in dash service engine light and odometer is normal, seen other posts the say they only have lines, but mine is ok. the start of all of this , I washed engine with regular garden hose, ( not using pressure washer).also in the mean time, rear window defroster stopped working as well, can not say for same reason, but a mention.My problem started after washing engine. this is one of four Panther platform vehicles I owned with exact 4.6l w code engine, which I rinced down before. The only sensor I can think of is Oil pressure , or a corroded wire
