SOURCE: need to replace radiator in 1997 honda accord se. what are the steps?

First drain radiator by opening drain valve,"located on bottom corner usualy the right, but not always." If you open the overflow or remove cap this will happen much faster. For safety sake disconnect ground wire from battery, the radiator is locked down by top cover that attaches to body with generaly 4 bolts, upper and lower hoses have to be disconnected and if it is automatic the transmission cooling lines are connected in stacked fashion,"one above the other."The cooling fan has to be unplugged and it should be removable at this point,"when unplugging fan be carefull with connector so it doesn't break.reverse steps to replace making sure the bolts go in the right place and it all fits properly.the thermostat,"located behind the kneck of upper hose," should be replaced after connecting lower hose because in order to fill the block up and prevent damaging thermostat the block shoud be filled with coolant before attaching upper hose.

SOURCE: where is the thermostat located on a 1997 honda

Follow the lower radiator hose up to where it meets the engine. That is the thermostat housing. Remove it and you will find the thermostat. Make sure you get a NEW gasket too. Clean all around where the old thermostat was so it will seal.

Loud noise starts when A/C and/or defrost is ON.

It sounds like you have a defective AC compressor pulley bearing. Have it diagnosed and replaced ASAP as if it seizes up it will burn up the belt and cause a breakdown.

Hi I am Vortash I have heard that the oil pump bearings do make a noise when they are failing this allows the oil impeller to touch the sides of the pump wall and make a scraping noise .. I have never actually heard it myself .. I would have tested oil pressure from the pump before re assembly and probably fitted a new oil pump at any case as the engine was stripped down that far ?. hope you find your problem sorted soon good luck regards Vortash

Need to know where the thermostat is

Make sure the engine is cool before you remove any part of the coolant system. On most vehicles just follow your top hose from the radiator to the engine block. There will be two bolts holding on the thermostat housing remove these and clean the area good. Use a silicone based water proof / gasket sealant replace and your done.
