Question about Audi A8
I have a 1999 Audi A8 quatro 4.2, The car surges at speeds of around 30-40mph under a load. I have had the transmission fluid and filter changed, replaced the crankshaft sensor, new plugs, the head gasket was leaking oil, just had that replaced, also the ABS module, but that was for a different reason. I had also changed the coils. When the car surges, the rpms rev up and down a few hundred rpms. I have speant about $5,000 recently on this car, but I love the car, just can not get this problem fixed, The Audi dealer stated there are no codes stored, and the Check engine light is not on, Oh, I also changed the MAF sensor and air filter.

SOURCE: Oil for 2007 AUDI A4 2.0t Quatro
The best balance of price, quality, availability that I have found is Mobil1 synthetic - it's on Audi's approved oils list. With the 2.0T engine, you absolutely want to use synthetic (the Audi turbo fours are known for oil sludge issues), and you want to do a SeaFoam treatment every 15k miles or so - that combination will keep your engine in great running shape.

You must find the cam lock bar and crank lock pin to do this job properly, otherwise you can bend some valves and that becomes expensive..the front crank damper has a mark to line up with a mark on the timing cover for #1 TDC, but the cam lock bar is what aligns the cams into position. The crank lock pin is helpful but not 100% necessary...
