60/40 but 50/50 is fine, Locate the the drain it is at the bottom of the radiator, drain out the old coolant (remove the pressure cap) and refill the radiator slowly, fill the coolant bottle all the way to the top, run the engine at high idle for 10-15 minutes, do not overheat it, shut it down and let it cool, recheck the coolant bottle and fill to full line, that should do it.

I have just replaced the thermostat in my mitsubishi outlander 2006 zf 2.4l auto wagon and I am flushing the radiator but i need to know the coolant/radiator capacity and the ratio of coolant/water

Hello aislin87,

The total engine coolant capacity is 7.4 quarts.

Just changing the thermostat should not drain the entire system so you wont need that much.

The recommendation is above 30% but below 60% anti freeze to water to provide for proper freeze and anti-corrosion protection.

netvan

What is the ratio of antifreeze to water in an 1989 honda civic?

The mixture of of anti-freeze/coolant to water should always be 50-50, or 50% anti-freeze/coolant and 50% water, and the mixture should not exceed 75-25 or 75% anti-freeze/coolant and 25% water. If the mixture is more that 75-25 then the anti-freeze/coolant will not function properly in the cooling system and it can actually cause the engine to overheat, and if the mixture is below 50-50 then the anti-freeze/coolant protection will be deminished.

Antifreez type 1991 volvo? 4cyl

Volvo would like you to believe you need their o.e.m. and pricey anti-freeze to keep your cooling system from falling apart. NOT! Any good quality anti-freeze will perform well. Just be sure to mix it 50-50 with water when adding or changing, or using the 50-50 premix that's sold ready to use. More expensive because you're paying anti-freeze prices for water! I have used off-the-shelf anti-freeze in all my Volvos, which run 300,000 miles or more. You can extend the life of your radiator, water ump etc, but flushing the system every year or so, draining off the old coolant and adding a fresh mix.

1993 Toyota Celica Anti-freeze

A 50/50 mix will get you enough protection for all but probably the most extreme climates. You can go into just about any place that sells anti-freeze and get it already pre-mixed 50/50. Its actually better to do it that way because its precisely mixed and used pure water for the mix rather than tap water.
