SOURCE: 2005 Dodge Caravan wil not start

If the engine cranks but will not start, start looking for an ignition or fuel problem. I assume the engine is cranking normally. You should clean the battery posts anyway.

SOURCE: replace positive battery cable 97 montero

Cut the wire at the end that hooks to the battery post, get a "crimp on end" that will fit the bolt and go up under the new cable end.

SOURCE: 1999 Ford Ranger - Has a BATTERY LIGHT on at idle,

There is a diode in most older alternators that when working properly put out the light u speak of. The guage has some age so - take ur truck to advance auto - auto zone or one of them - have them check the battery - if u had to get a jump and had a problem it might be time for a new battery. You don't say how old the battery or alternator is so have them looked at.
If the problem leaves you stranded again then you will know it soon enough. To avoid being stranded - buy a GOOD or BETTER jump box - in the winter u need this - -also you can for a short time - remove your battery and CAREFULLY hook your cables to your jump box - wrapping the POSITIVE cable in some kind of old rag [t shirt is good] put a little tape around it or otherwise secure it so it doesn't hit metal while your using it as a battery and this will get you home or to a shop.

Took the battery out my 2001 mitsubisih montero sport now it want crank

If you took the battery out of the vehicle, it shouldn't start because it needs a battery to start any car up.

How to jump started,can i use a bmw 318

You can use any vehicle you have available, as long as the battery you are jumping from is a 12V battery. (Which the BM's is)
This is the textbook recommendation:
Using a set of jumper cables, the thicker the better, connect the positive on the 318's battery to the positive on the Montero. The cars should not be touching(metal to metal anyway) Next the negative on the 318 to the engine block of the Montero. Start the 318 and then attempt starting the Montero. Once started, switch on the headlamps of the 318 and disconnect the cables, Montero negative first then 318 negative, then Montero positive and last 318 positive.
This is my way:
Connect cables, battery to battery, first positive then negative while making sure you touch nothing else on either vehicle.(Connect good battery first then flat battery) Your battery contains a lot of stored energy and also explosive gases, YOU DO NOT WANT A SHORTCIRCUIT, or sparking at the good battery for that matter.
Start the vehicle with the good battery. Let it idle for at least 10 minutes allowing the charging system on the (318) to replenish both batteries. Patience is needed.
Once started, and before disconnecting, switch on the headlamps on both vehicles. This is to prevent a voltage spike caused by the sudden disconnection damaging any electronics on either vehicle.

1999 mitsubishi montero sport limited 2wd 3.5L i was driving home and i suddenly smelled something burning and my brake and battery light came on. once i turned it off, it wouldnt start again. no lights or...

The battery/ brake light was caused by the alternator. so make sure the battery is good and good connections. turn the headlights on and be sure they are bright.

Most likely if the positive post is hot the battery dosent meet the CCA (cold cranking amps) required for the durango to start. Check your owners manual but using a battery that is too small (or not enough cca) will cause the positive post to heat up to the point that it will eventually melt off

Replace positive battery cable 97 montero

A lot of cars have two cables on the positive post.
Do you need to replace the cables or is the battery post clamp broken. You can buy a replacement post clamp if you have the type of cables that are bolted to the clamp.
If you need the cable, a oem replacement from your dealer parts counter will match. You can get after market replacements, just look for one that matches your original as close as possible. The parts counter guy should be able to help.

Starter cranks slow

By your description I would say BATTERY. Don't know how old the battery is. The average life of a battery is about 3 years, sometimes less, sometimes more.
