before it wouldnt start there was a situation. one day i came out it started right up and drove fine for most of the day. then on my way home i was driving down the highway and it just died. pulled over to the side of the road waited a few minutes and it started back up. the next day i came out it started and then after 2 or 3 minutes it died. started it back up and ran for most of the day. later the same night i went to get in it and go and nothing. i think my problem is with the security system, or the power distribution center. i changed ignition switch, new starter, battery is good. i hear a clicking noise coming from the distribution center. i feel its the security system because of one time i tried to start the vehicle when the alarm was going off and there was nothing but all my idiot lights turned on and mileage gauges, which is happening now. it says that the security system cuts off power to the starter.

You will have to pinpoint what the engine is missing...
- Spark
- Fuel
- Compression

All three of these are tested when the engine is being cranked over. There are two way of checking for fuel. Fuel pressure and fuel trigger. Both are very important and must be present for the engine to start. Fuel pressure is self explanatory. You just hook up the gage and see what the reading is. Fuel trigger is check with a noid light. The injector gets unplugged and the noid light gets plugged in to the injector clip. With the engine cranking over, this light must blink. This is the signal to the injectors from the computer. You can have all the fuel pressure in the world, but it wont matter if the injector is not pulsing gas into the cylinder like it should.

Compression tester, spark tester, fuel pressure gage and noid light are all accessible at your local auto store. All three tests play a very important part in diagnosing a no start condition. Be extremely careful when doing these tests.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

My 1990 Cadillac Deville wont start or engage starter

Sounds like you blew fuse. Fix fuse and borrow a car starting switch they use at car repair shops. As long as you can turn tumbler to on ,you can start using the starting switch from repair shop..There should be a way to run a start button to start car and your off/on key should be OK
