Replace the elctronic flasher relay, it runs both turn and emergency flashers in one relay. The flasher/turn signal is screwed into the metal support above the fuse panel, you must take the bottom of the dash off and remove the plastic cover. this is for a sable that has light out detection. Look under your dash for a blue box screwed into the right side of the dash panel. This of course is done, with you laying on your back, and your feet in the back seat. It's a blue box, about the size of half a twinkie (cream filled, golden sponge cake). Remove the plug that holds it in, unscrew the screw that holds it to the frame, and go to Autozone or other parts store, to get a new relay. You will have to reuse the metal piece that holds the relay to the dash panel, so be sure and save that before you throw the old part away. Installation is the reverse. Where is the turn signal flasher unit located on a 1990 oldsmobile ninety eight regency brougham?

DONT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM! THAT MAY COST U MORE. Let the tech do it. Something like a bad flasher is a simple issue. If u have a fair tech u wont be soaked in labor. Getting back to your question, the flasher is located in the fuse box. If the flasher was NG the lights would show on the dash but would not flash. u may have an electrical short in the turn signal switch circuit. u can try changing the flasher (its simple & inexpensive enough) but it may not solve your problem. Remove the flasher, put on the turn signal & w a test light, test the connector on the fuse box for voltage. Jump the connector to see if the light activates. If so replace the flasher. If u don't want to test just replace the flasher as a test. Good luck

I would bet bad flasher. Try swapping the flasher for the emergency lights with the turn signal light. GM's have two flashers and usually one is easy to get to and one not so easy. If there is a new flasher, give if a minute to try to operate. I use to sell auto parts and the first use of a flasher would take 30 seconds or so, something to do with manufacturing. Good luck.

My turn signals won't come on at all?

check the fuse if good then turn on the hazard lights if they work then you probably need a turn signal flasher which is a separate flasher unit then the hazard one.it usually looks like the hazard one so with the hazards on and locate it then you will know what the signal flasher looks like and you will also know not to change the wrong flasher unit.the signal flasher is often located at or near the under dash fuse panel or somewhere in the dash you don`t say what type of car your talking about.

Turn signal and flashers stop working

Check fuse # 12 and 14 at the power distribution center (fuse box) in the engine compartment near the battery. If both fuses test good, the the more likely cause of your problem is either the turn signal / hazard switch or the Combination Flasher / Daytime Running Light module. This module is located on the junction block, behind the left side of the dash.

The switch can be tested by accessing the wires at the base of the steering column.
Left turn signal = Light Blue / White
Right turn signal = Light Blue / Yellow
Hazard flasher = Dark Blue / Pink

These wire should show ground when the switch is actuated in its respective positions. If ground is not present when the switch is actuated, check also the black wire at the switch. This wire should show ground at all times. If you do not get ground on this wire than there is an open in this wire. Repair or re-grounding this wire should solve your problem. If the switch test good than the Combo Flasher / DRL module will need to be replaced.

Signal and emergency ligths stop working

I would check the bulbs, first with just parking lights on - making sure all light - then to see if brake lights work.

If brake lights work, check you parking/signal lights, as they may be of the "two filament" variety. If this is the case, and they are not burned out, check to make sure that the FLASHER module works and that the button for the EMER FLASHER works.

If either is not working, neither will your turn signals, as they depend on the flasher module.

Good luck !!
