Wiper linkage bushing replacement

Where can I find windshield wiper linkage bushings for a 1986 Toyota MR2? Auto part stores don't carry them, dealer doesn't offer them and universals don't work... Any creative fabrication ideas?

SOURCE: windshield wiper

1) listen if windshield wiper motor is turning when switched on. The motor is under hood up near firewall.
If no noise and fuses are OK, motor may need replacement.

2) If motor can be heard whirring, then maybe the plastic link between the motor shaft and the wiper arm assy has worn or broken. (A very cheap part). This can be accessed by removing cowling or vents in front of windshield. This is a common failure.

Check the bushings at the motor for the shift cables, worn or binding. The MR2 club has a link to a company who makes brass replacement bushings.

Plastic Bushing on windshield wiper linkage broke do I have to replace the whole linkage or can I get new bushings

You did not post a vehicle so this will be a little generic.

Typically the entire wiper transmission (everything but the wiper motor) will have to be replaced. Typically they are not that expensive and depending on the vehicle are not extremely difficult to replace. If one of the sockets/bushing has gone bad the others may not be far behind. It may just be wiser to replace the whole thing.

How do you replace wiper linkage

You must remove both wiper arms, open hood and remove metal vent panel that runs the width of the vehicle. You will see where the arm has falling off ,replace all bushings(4).NAPA carries them.

Replacing windshield wiper bushing nissan altima 99

This bushing is a pain to install, i have done many of these and end up messing them up before i get one on, to tell you the truth it does not last.I have tried to save customers money by installing the bushing and it comes back to bite me, they get mad because the wiper linkage fell off again in the rain, the sad part was that they were advised that the fix may not hold but they agreed to it to save money, i then found out that the linkage arm could be replaced , it only costs 12.00.
there are many auto part stores that sell it even the dealer, Dorman is one company, you can google it.
The way i get these bushings on it by applying a little grease around bushing and then with two sockets and a vise, i then press bushing into arm. good day hope this is helpful.

97 nissan sentra windshield wiper linkage arm disconnected

Most likely you will have to replace the wiper linkage from the center pivot to the left or drivers-side wiper pivot. The plastic piece in the linkage gets brittle over time and breaks down. To save a hassle in the future, replace both linkages. It should be under $20.00 for parts.
