SOURCE: fuel pressure regulator

How do you know that it is the regulator?
these 4.3 motors had a lot of trouble from 93 to 98, I know I had 2 of them.
What happened to mine was that the intake kept getting very carboned up. After I would clean it, the truck would run fine for about 5 or 6 months, then same thing.
Theres actually a class action lawsuit about this that I believe has been settled, you may have recourse if you bought it through a dealer. Good luck.You'll need it.

Locate your fuel pump fuse in the under-hood electrical center. Start the van ( cold engine ) and remove the fuse. When the engine stalls, the fuel pressure will have been depleted in the rail. You will have a small amount of residual fuel in the line but no pressure. Place a rag under the regulator to catch the dripping fuel.

Two places to look...if you have separate injectors for each cylinder then regulator should be at the front end of the fuel rail. If you have throttle body injection it is on the throttle body itself.

Fuel injector problem , leaking fuel pressure regulator ,

Causes of gas in oil
On my 94 Chevy blazer, gas in the oil was caused by a ruptured diaphragm in the fuel pressure regulator that is attached to the fuel injector. Flooding the engine. An over abundance of gas in your cylinders will wash down your cylinder walls and accumulate in the oil pan.

2001 chevy tahoe. the fuel pressure regulator making alot of noise. it is a new regulator. the engine is stalling. could this be the cause if the stalling

Yes it could be the cause. Make sure you have a good engine vacuum signal to the fuel pressure regulator, I suggest you replace the vacuum hose as well as a poor vacuum signal from the engine will cause the regulator diaphragm to "vibrate" and be noisey, this plays heck with the fuel pressure and this may be why the stall.

Sadly, there is no "magic fixit" button on your vehicle.
Standard diagnostic procedures include:
  1. Replace the fuel filter. (Go ahead, just do it... likely your issue);
  2. Check fuel pressure at the fuel rail. If fuel pressure is inadequate or varies, begin by replacing the fuel pressure regulator. Also, verify operation of the fuel pump and make sure the fuel intake strainer in the gas tank is free of debris;
  3. Your fuel may be contaminated, especially if you have been using ethanol blend fuel. Replace all fuel in the system with ethanol-free fuel if possible. If you cannot find ethanol-free fuel, use a FUEL SYSTEM WATER REMOVER with each fill-up;
  4. Check for adequate spark. If spark is inadequate, troubleshoot the ignition system. Perform a major tune-up, including new spark plug wires and coil pack(s).

Its a 1999 chevy tahoe. Changed fuel pump twice.

Could be the pressure regulator on the fuel rail. Pull the vacuum line off the regulator and check it for fuel contamination. There should not be gas in the line. If there is fuel in that line the regulator is bad and needs replaced.

Chevy tahoe not getting gas to rail

Try a new fuel filter first. From there have someone check the fuel pressure regulator and then the pump. If you are in need of a new pump, take my word for it and spend the money to get one from a Dealer, and not from your favorite parts store. Most parts store parts are made in China and they are JUNK. At least get a OE pump.

Dark green provides power to fuel pump relay from the ECU. Orange wire at fuel pump relay is power at all time and is provide from the ECM/Bat Fuse at fuse block (Left side of dash). It also connects to the fuel pump oil pressure switch. The grey wire at relay provides power to the fuel pump and fuel pum oil pressure switch. The red plug thats tape to harness from relay/fuse center is the prime connector..

What is the fuel pressure spec for a 2004 tahoe with 5.3 flex fuel. I have low power. Changed fuel filter, air filter and oil and still no power. Checked fuel pressure and had about 43 psi. not sure what...

I would change the fuel pressure regulator first, if no change in pressure the fuel pump is on the way out.I have a 01 silverado 4.8 and my fuel pressure is between 55and60 psi.

Ase describe your where is the fuel pressure

If you look at the top of the upper intake manifold plenum with the air intake duct work off you will see 2 shiny fuel tubes that feed into the fuel meter body. The fuel meter body also has an electrical connector right in the middle of it. The pressure regulator is mounted on the side of that body. You'll have to remove the upper intake manifold manifold to replace it. Before you do that, be sure to bleed the pressure off the fuel system.
