It depends on which sound system you have. If you have the premium sound system, there is an external amplifier and uses 3 fuses. If you have the standard sound system, there are only 2 fuses.
The fuses involved are:
Fuse 41 (15 Amp) and Fuse 33 (20 Amp) in the fuse and fusible link box in the engine compartment.
Fuse 18 (10 Amp) in the left dash fuse panel

NOTE: Fuse 33 is only used with premium sound.

If the radio lights up then it is not a fuse problem. Did you have the battery disconnected or run dead? If so it may be in theft lock from the loss of power. See the dealer for help with the code needed to unlock it, it is unique to your car and radio chassis serial number.

Cant turn off mute on the car radio

Hello Christina,

The mute feature on most car audio systems is a push to activate push to restore sound feature, if they have that option.

If you cannot raise or lower the volume on your radio, check to make sure its powering up...are there lights on the units panel? No lights...no power...check your owners manual for the fuse location to see if it is burned out. If the fuse is good then the stereo is most likely the culprit.

If your vehicle has steering wheel controls for the stereo you may be having software issues but as few details are provided about what type of vehicle we are discussing here..this is all guess work.

I hooked up a dual radio to my 1987 dodge ram the radio comes on but no sound and the dash lights went out

Sounds like you have the stereo ground wired into the wire that dims the light on the factory stereo when the headlights turn on. Rewire stereo with proper ground, check all other wiring to insure it's done properly, replace blown fuses for lights & stereo. Should be good to go.

Can't get sound out of my stereo. i can adjust

Think that stereo has a seperate power amp... check the fuse box for any blown fuses. there are a couple of inline fuses in the system whicha are always fun to locate....

Stereo Backlighting won't light up

I have had the same problem. It is a short within the radio itself. There really is no fixing it except for buying a new one.

Radio

Sounds like the head unit is bad on your audio system. You would need to replace the entire unit. I'd recommend an aftermarket stereo instead of another Ford stereo.

Stereo stopped working along with speedometer

It's probably not a fuse. It sounds like your vehicle speed sensor went bad in the transmission. The reason your radio stopped working was because your radio is probably equipped with speed sensitive volume and it requires a speed signal to work.
