Question about 2006 Hummer H3

2 Answers

Transmission problem Hi, I have a 2006 Hummer H3, done 135 k. I changed the torque converter last week because the transmission was not responding at all. Now the situation is better but still the 3rd and 4th gears do not give any power above 3000 RPM, the gears shift but there is no power as if in neutral. What could be the problem? Thanks

The transmission in this truck is shifted by a computer based on many input valves sent to the Transmission control module which is part of the powertrain control module (PCM), so what must be done is to have the system scanned for fault codes and also live shift data info look at by a trained dealer tech who knows the system and what to look for. The very least you need is a live data scan tool and a factory service manual set.

SOURCE: how do i shut off my change oil light in my h3

I'm not 100% on this but I think it's like a lot of GM's; turn the key to the "on" position(not running), stomp the gas pedal to the floor 3 times within 5 seconds & the light should flash & go out.

SOURCE: 2006 H3 Hummer AC/Heater Fan Motor

I brought my 2006 H3 in to the dealer for the same thing. My blower stopped working all together but it started as an intermittent problem. He said he had to replaced a diode or resistor either behind the switch on the dash that controls the fan or on the fan motor itself. Have not had a problem since but that was only about 4 months ago.

I have locked high 4 wheel for 10 miles in mistaken and then listened a noise

when you use 4wd on hard surface ,there is a result called torque wind up that occurs in the transmission and drive lines. This is because the tyres cannot slip to even out the torque
The noise will be the transmission, transfer case and the diffs and drive lines reacting to the torque wind up.

Problems with hummers

There is virtually no difference between the Hummer H3 drive train and comparable GMC and Chevrolet drive trains. Although you overspent on a piece of pseudo-military jewelry, the drive train is reasonably reliable and easy to service, and parts interchange with GM truck parts.
My sole recommendation would be to use 15W-40 diesel-grade oil instead of the recommended oil and, if you haven't already done it in the last 20,000 miles, change all fluids (crankcase oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid, differential fluid, power steering fluid, engine coolant).

H3 hummer wet and wont start

I'm not a Hummer mechanic but I would say it is related, and I would go on to suppose that the fuse panel got wet and caused your troubles. I hope you had a reputable glass shop install your glass because they will be responsible for any repairs and damages.

2006 hummer h3 shuts off allof a sudden

The following are the general instructions on the start of diagnosing any electronically controlled engine or transmission problem.

The engine and the automatic transmission (transmission control is only for automatics, engine is still computer controlled no matter the transmission type) in this vehicle are computer controlled and in most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is stored in the memory of the computer control module. There are exception to this, such as the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure problems. What must be done is to have all the basic testing done such as a scan of the system for fault codes as well as a check with a live data scanner tool for engine functions that are not within range of normal, a trained technician is required to know what is correct and what isn't, then based on careful diagnostics done from a factory repair manual the correct part is replaced or the wiring repaired or the computer replaced (known as the PCM), which is very rarely the problem. Other basic checks must be done as well such as mechanical problems with the engine as well as engine state of tune and mileage on the engine. The transmission can have mechanical issues as well such as no gear engagement at all or a failed pump or other pressure related problems. Also engine mechanical problems ca cause many drive-ability related problem such as rough idle and other symptoms

Hummer h3 I'l change me manuel Transmission Oil

There is a threaded plug on the bottom of the transmission that is 1/2" drive take this out and the fluid will drain, replace and on the side there is another 1/2" drive plug that you use to fill, you will fill until the fluid starts to come out this side hole. Hope that helps you.

It sounds like your transmission has lost it's overdrive clutch pack. It should be diagnosed by a shop and it's usually cheaper to go with a used or rebuilt transmission.
