2000 kia sportage 4x4 never seen anything like it. changed plugs both coils and both plug wires all bad and still starting rough press on idle feels like not getting enough gas high idle sensor off.

-Not always the plugs and the coil case this. This can be cause by bad injector. Dirty mass air flow sensor.
-First Clean mass air flow sensor. If it's still do the same thing
then check the resistance of every injector. If it's not within its specification then replace it.

Good Luck

My 2006 KIA Sorento won't idle and is pecking!! I just had 3 ignition coils put in and new spark plugs because of the same problem!! It ran great for a week, then the engine died at a red light!! When I...

SOUNDS LIKE the throttle position sensor (tps) (will cause surging), or mass air sensor (mas) if equipped (or your equivalent) Unplugging the mass air sensor will cause the computer to switch to limp home mode, which will clean up the idle till you replace the sensor, ( usually located on the air intake tube or at the air cleaner) These are sometimes on the ame circuit as the crank sensor (picked up on the scanner), but the coils and crank are totally the wrong direction. Code p0100

A code P0100 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
The MAF may be disconnected, or a wiring connection may be bad. The MAF sensor may be faulty
Possible Solutions: Verify that the Mass Air Flow Sensor wiring is connected properly and that there are no broken / frayed wires. Unplug and reconnect the MAF wiring harness Check the voltage of the MAF sensor (refer to a repair manual for vehicle specific information) Replace the MAF sensor.

Cleaning the MAF on KIA Sorento

Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor is located in the air intake plenum assembly. This sensor is combined with the IAT sensor. Check this removal and installation procedure (first disconnect the negative battery cable):
Disconnect the connector from the sensor.
Remove the air cleaner and air intake assembly, as required.
Remove the sensor from its mounting.

To install:
Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

Be sure the engine is at operating temperature.
Remove the sensor connector.
Using a voltmeter, measure the output voltage.
Specification should be 0.5 volt at idle and 1.0 volt at 2000 rpm.
Replace the sensor, as required.

Hope this helps.

2004 Kia Sorento, I got a code P0102 Mass Airflow or VAF A Circuit low input, Where do I find this and is it cleanable. Car seems to be running fine, just came on, reset it but have not driven it yet

Yes it is cleanable, but that doesn't always work. It is worth a shot though. The Mass Air Flow Sensor is located in the air hose that goes to the air filter housing. If you are going to clean it, use a suitable cleaner for electrical parts that is quick drying. Do NOT use compressed air to dry the sensor. There are small wires and resistors inside that are very fragile and break easily.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

2001 kia optima hesitates on acceleration gets better when warm, but still does it, has 2.4 engine

3 possible problems your mass are flow meter/senso could be going bad but not bad enough to register a fault, the same for your idle air valve and also your throttle position sensor. all 3 of these are on your throttle body .
with the engine running tap the side of the mass air flow with the back of a screw driver, if the engine sputers mass air flow needs can try cleaning it with some mass air flow cleaner if you cant find that at your auto parts store get some electrical parts wash. your idle air valve needs to be cleaned or replaced there hard to get off. your throttle position sensor , you need to know the setting ,if the auto parts store cant give you aprint out of instuctions best to let a kia dealership do it and pay out the ****.
