DEpending on the year, make and model of your vehicle, you could have a bad turn signal switch. The brake lights go through the turn signal switch on some models. If you can post more information about what kind of vehicle you have, someone might be able to help you better.

buy some contact cleaner and give the light socket a good spray, also check the earth for the tail light ,if it had a fault it would be blowing fuses, was the old tail light blown ,to look like white ,if so its moisture causing the problem

The left brake light does not work.....the bulb is good ......turn signal and marker lights work...

the connector that holds the bulb is faulty or an open wire check for wires being exposed by connection. also check the fuse pannel for a blown tailight fuse or brake lights fuse.

My 97 chevy blazer, the brake lights dont work but the third brake light does and the turn signals or hazard lights dont work??

More likely it is the hazard/turnsignal/highbeam/cruise control switch module. It costs about $275 for the module. However there is a repair kit for the likely culprit...the hazard button. Try jiggling it around a little, see if that helps. Spray a little WD-40 into it so it can jostle back into it's correct position. You could try a junkyard unit or Ebay. It's not too hard to change. The hard part is doing it without removing the steering wheel. It can be done. I've done it. But hopefully you can locate the repair kit which costs about 15 dollars. Good luck.

1987 Toyota Supra with brake light issues. All light work, but the brake lights don't get brighter. Does it have something to do with that little yellow box in the rear driver side pannel?

Brake light fuse , or burnt out bulb , or switch on brake pedal.
The bulbs have 2 filiments in them , 1 for running lights and 1 for brake lights.

Fuse should be under dash on left side. Providing that there is power there and power at the signal switch (and bulbs are good) likely there is a problem in the signal switch.
