According with your previous questions; this code is related to the TCC circuit in the transmission. It is either stuck in the closed position (regulator valve, or control valve) or it has a bad torque converter. You will need to take it to a reputable transmission shop to have some fluid line pressure tests done. The cost of course will depend on the repair needed. Some parts of the repair for this are pretty simple and only require removal of the oil pan and valve body to access related parts, but if the converter has ballooned and needs to be replaced the transmission will need to come out for repairs. Most good shops are happy to give you a free written estimate, ask for one before you authorize any repair work. Could be rather simple, but could just as easily be complex, hard to tell from where I'm setting. Better to have it tested than to just start throwing expensive parts at it in an attempt to fix it. Most of these failures are caused by dirt, and things getting plugged up due to lack of maintenance.

Honda Service News November 2003 TITLE:
A/T DTC P0740, P0741 Repair Tips: Another Look APPLIES TO:
All Models

SERVICE TIP:
If you're doing a repair for DTC P0740 or P0741 (lock-up control system) on any Honda models with A/T, except Passport, refer to this table first:

ingine light on - 2_21_2012_3_22_47_pm.gif

If there is no S/B posted on ISIS for the vehicle you're working on, go to the DTC P0740 or P0741 troubleshooting procedure in the Automatic Transmission section of the appropriate S/M or under DTC Troubleshooting in ISIS. If the procedure recommends replacing the A/T, make sure you have a reman A/T on hand. Remove the original A/T, and look at the condition of the torque converter O-ring. Then follow these tips to ensure a lasting repair.

Missing or cut O-ring . If the O-ring is missing or cut, the ATF can leak internally, causing DTC P0740 or P0741 to set. Replace the O-ring, and reuse the original A/T. Make sure the problem has been fixed by connecting the HDS and testdriving the vehicle using the previous DTC P0740 or P0741 freeze data parameters (match the TPS and VSS values for at least 25 seconds ). If the DTC comes back, install the reman A/T. If the DTC doesn't come back, return the reman A/T to the reman center.

Flattened or deformed O-ring . If the O-ring is flattened or deformed, replace the A/T. The O-ring can get damaged if the ATF pump seizes up and overheats. Make sure the problem has been fixed by connecting the HDS and testdriving the vehicle using the previous DTC P0740 or P0741 freeze data parameters (match the TPS and VSS values for at least 25 seconds ).

O-ring is OK . If the O-ring is round and in good condition, the most likely cause for DTC P0740 or P0741 to set is the A/T, the torque converter, or both. Install the reman A/T. Make sure the problem has been fixed by connecting the HDS and test-driving the vehicle using the previous DTC P0740 or P0741 freeze data parameters (match the TPS and VSS values for 25 seconds ). Before you install the reman A/T, make sure the O-ring on the torque converter is properly installed.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

Sometimes the antitheft security system can turn off the injectors and/or fuel pump when there is a problem in the system. A good indicator is if there is a light somewhere on the dash that reads SECURITY. If you see this, go to this link for info and DO IT YOURSELF solutions. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

Have the car's computer scanned. When the check light comes on, it sets a code that won't clear until it's actively reset. Post that code or codes here and we can help you.

Have the fault codes pulled with a scanner. also check the ignition wires, you may have a bad one witch causes the misfire. I had same problem on my late 99 Toyota tacoma . auto zone check codes for free.

The check ingine kight is on the mechanic says its

P0420 code represents several issues with the catalyst system. Air leaks at the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipes, catalytic converter needs to be replaced, high engine oil or coolant usage (normally meaning a deeper issue), the front and rear HO2S are leaking, contaminated or age. these codes are for both size motors, the four and the six. Good luck, I hope this can help you solve your issue.

first you need to find out what gaskets you need, you can do this by having someone but oil dye in you engine let it run and use a uv light to see where all its coming from , once you know all the gaskets you need at the part store tell them you need instructional diagram for each one places like auto zone will give you them

Ingine will not turn off after taking keys out . Everything else goes out but ingine keeps running.

Sounds like a faulty ignition barrel! If you take off the trims underneath the steering column you'll be able to gain access to the ignition barrel casing where the key goes. By undoing the casing you'll be able to turn off the engine with a simple flat bladed screwdriver.

Ignition barrels arent too expensive to have replaced, the other problem that might occur is the chance of needing a new set of keys or to have your current keys programmed to the new barrel (Normally a new set of keys is the common procedure with a new barrel)!

Hope this helps

Check ingine code says there is a air leak somewhere

evap leak can be due to a gas cap not tightened fully. Did this code come up after fueling? If yes, have auto parts store erase code for you at no charge.

Transmission and check ingine light

Your vehicle’s computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with some of the components it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light to tell you that there is a problem and you should have the car diagnosed and repaired. First step is to see what codes are in your computer and if they are transmission codes.
