Air suspension is controlled by the compressor in your engine compartment.  The compressor runs when the suspension is not level.  Either because you have loaded the car with exceptional weight and the system is now adjusting the ride, or you have a leak in the system, or you have a bad sensor.
If you have a leak, the most likely culprit are the air suspension bags, the air suspension solenoids or possibly the lines to them.

I don't work for either of them.  I own a 96 TC and have replaced my air suspension with coil springs form Strutmasters.  Work GREAT and I have no more air suspension problems.  Rides just as good too.  You can't tell the difference.

the clock spring is a way to allow wiring to go through and turn around the column without out damage. the cruise, lights, air bag and horn all goes through the clock spring, and that sounds like the clock spring broke.

WARNING:

* ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN SERVICING AN AIR BAG VEHICLE AND WHEN HANDLING AN AIR BAG.
* CARRY A LIVE AIR BAG MODULE WITH THE AIR BAG AND TRIM COVER POINTED AWAY FROM YOUR BODY. THIS WILL REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT.
* DO NOT SET A LIVE AIR BAG MODULE DOWN WITH THE TRIM COVER FACE DOWN.
* AFTER DEPLOYMENT, THE AIR BAG SURFACE MAY CONTAIN DEPOSITS OF SODIUM HYDROXIDE, A PRODUCT OF THE GAS GENERANT COMBUSTION THAT IS IRRITATING TO THE SKIN. WASH YOUR HANDS WITH SOAP AND WATER AFTER HANDLING A DEPLOYED AIR BAG.
* NEVER PROBE THE CONNECTORS ON THE AIR BAGS. DOING SO CAN RESULT IN AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT WHICH CAN RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.
* AIR BAG MODULES WITH DISCOLORED OR DAMAGED COVERS OR DEPLOYMENT DOORS MUST BE REPLACED, NOT REPAINTED.
* VEHICLE SENSOR ORIENTATION IS CRITICAL FOR PROPER SYSTEM OPERATION. IF A VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH AN AIR BAG SYSTEM IS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION, INSPECT THE SENSOR MOUNTING BRACKET AND WIRING PIGTAIL FOR DEFORMATION. IF DAMAGED, THE SENSOR MUST BE REPLACED WHETHER OR NOT THE AIR BAG IS DEPLOYED.
* TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY MUST BE DEPLETED BEFORE REPAIRING OR REPLACING ANY AIR BAG SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) COMPONENTS. TO DEPLETE THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE AND WAIT ONE MINUTE. BE SURE TO DISCONNECT AUXILIARY BATTERIES AND POWER SUPPLIES (IF SO EQUIPPED).

REMOVAL
1. Remove the battery negative ground cable 15 minutes before starting work
NOTE: Make sure the front wheels are in the straight-ahead position.
2. Remove the driver side air bag module. (4 screws at back of the airbag)
3. Disconnect the speed control electrical connector.
4. Remove the steering wheel retaining bolt.
5. Install the Steering Wheel Puller and remove the steering wheel. Route the airbag sliding contact wire harness through steering wheel. CAUTION: To prevent damage, make sure air bag sliding contact wire harness does not get caught on steering wheel when lifting off.
INSTALLATION
Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.



NOTE: A repair is made by replacement only. If a part is replaced and the new part does not correct the condition. install the original part and perform the diagnostic procedure again
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the steering wheel.
3. Remove the two lower instrument panel insulator retaining screws.
4. Remove the courtesy light and place the lower instrument panel insulator out of the way.
5. Remove the two instrument panel steering column cover retaining screws and place the instrument panel steering column cover out of way.
6. Remove the steering column shroud.
1. Remove the steering column shroud retaining screws.
2. Separate the upper and lower halves of the steering column shroud and place out of way.
7. Working under the steering column, disconnect the three electrical connectors at the junction box and one electrical connector at the steering column potentiometer.
8. Release the three plastic clips retaining the multi-function switch to the steering column.
9. Remove the multi-function switch, air bag sliding contact and the electrical connector junction box as an assembly from the steering column.
10. Separate the air bag sliding contact from the multi-function switch.
1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the multi-function switch.
2. Release the four plastic clips retaining the air bag sliding contact to the multi-function switch, remove the air bag sliding contact and the wire harness.

INSTALLATION
1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order. WARNING
o ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN REPAIRING AN AIR BAG SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) VEHICLE AND WHEN HANDLING AN AIR BAG MODULE.
o CARRY A LIVE AIR BAG MODULE WITH THE AIR BAG AND DEPLOYMENT DOOR POINTED AWAY FROM YOUR BODY. THIS WILL REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT.
o NEVER PROBE THE CONNECTORS ON THE AIR BAG MODULE. DOING SO CAN RESULT IN AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, WHICH CAN RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.

There is more involved then just the horns ! Fuse , horn relay in the I/P fuse box , clock spring located under the steering wheel . Is the air bag light lit on the instrument cluster ? What make , model an year vehicle ? Horn not working ? Air bag light lit on the instrument cluster. Does your vehicle have air bag ? Horn button ? switch is part of air bag cover . Do you know what clock spring is ? How cars clock spring works

Why does the air bag light come on


You need to have a repair facility check for codes in the BODY computer to verify, but I believe your CLOCK spring, located in the steering column beneath the steering wheel is bad. This clock spring allows continuity between the air bag and air bag system when the steering wheel is turned. You are experiencing momentary breaks in the circuit when the steering wheel is turning and the body computer is sensing this and is setting off the air bag light and the beeper alarm. A body code will verify this. It is not a major job to replace the clock spring and involves pulling the steering wheel off to access it.

Car horn


The horn gets power from the clock spring. when the clock spring breaks you loose the horn , cruse control and the air bag light stays on indicating it is disabled. {The clock spring is under the air bag in the steering wheel }

I have a 2003 trailblazer and air bag light is on all the time


It could be clock spring is bad in the steering column. Most cars the blinkers, high beams, cruise control, horn, and air bag stuff are all hooked up to clock spring. If clock spring is the cause you'll start loosing functions of those things one after another.

The cruise control won't work -air bag light stays on and just put in a new clock spring to fix this but that did not work? Any ideas?


check fuses and relay. if not.....double check that clock spring.

On a 3.2 TL Acura, the "SRS" Indicator Light stays on after the engine starts. What codes will be indicated when I try and read the codes?


THE SRS means Air bag sensor and trigger ..

Simply put the SRS light tells you that the sensor cant connect to the trigger of your airbag namely the one locate in the steering wheel. This is beacause of a device known as a clock spring located in the steering. Its moves like a clock and allows the sensor and bag to get connection but sometimes the coil wires get broken.

To fix this take it to a SHOP.
reasons for that.
1.) A DEPLOYED AIR BAG WILL KILL YOU
2.) WITHOUT THE PROPER KNOWLEDGE YOU WILL DEPLOY THE AIR BAG
3.) EQUIPMENT IS EXPENSIVE

the fix involves. (REMOVE BATTERY)
1.) remove the steering wheel using the lock bolt and key
2.) unblot and remove then unlock the clock spring
3.) replace,
4.) recalibrate and reset spring
5.) reset error codes
6.) reassemble
7.) reset error codes.

OBD11tech thinks I have a bad clock spring on my 1999 jeep cherokee classic due to my horn not working & the air bag light stays on. Where is the clock spring & how do I change it?


it's inside the steering wheel
must be careful, because of the air bag.
disconnect the battery and wait for 10 minutes for the air bag capacitor to discharge power.
remove the air bag module from the steering wheel
remove the center nut, then steering wheel
the clock pring is a yellow round piece that fitted inside the steering column. there is a snap ring hold the clock spring in place. disconnect the wiring then remove the clock spring.

Horn wont work but works with the panic button


The computer controls the horn and looks for a signal from the Remote Keyless Entry system or the horn button. Due to the fact that the horn works with the RKE but not when you press the horn button, would cause me to suspect that the Clock Spring mechanism, which is also used to activate the Driver's Air Bag, might be malfunctioning. When the Clock Spring breaks, the computer does not get a signal from the horn button so it can not opperate the horn. If I remember correctly, when the Clock Spring goes out, the Air Bag light on the dash either does not light up for 2 seconds when you first start the vehicle, or it comes on and stays on all the time, which is to let you know that the Air Bag is not functioning, and the primary cause is the Clock Spring. So check your owners manual to see if the Air Bag warning light on the dash is functioning normally. Your local Chrysler dealer can quickly and easily check the function of the Clock Spring, Horn, and Air Bag system, through the use of the DRB scan tool. If it is in fact the Clock Spring that is malfunctioning, the Air Bag module and the steering wheel must be removed in order to replace the Clock Spring, which should be left to a trained professional, that has been educated on the proper handling of the Air Bag system. You wouldn't want to accidentally deploy the Air Bag, as you could be injured. That and Air Bag modules can be expensive to replace.
