SOURCE: where is the HVAC box located on a 2000 GMC

Check in the one heater hose will be a control valve. Check the operation of the valve(this is the heater control valve). If the lever on it appears to be moving. Take the valve out and manually check that the valve is opening and closing the whole way. If not replace the valve and recheck. If it is the heater core may be clogged not allowing the hot coolant to flow thru so you can get heat.

Should be on the right side of the engine by the starter.Has a 1 wire connector. It does not go into the cooling system so you can just take it out without draining the coolant.Hope this helps.Good luck.

SOURCE: 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 - heater blows, but only cold air

Check coolant level. Check for heat at the heater hose going from water pump to heater core at firewall. Check to see that cable is moving coolant control valve from the closed to open position. Low mileage so it shouldn't be plugged heater core.

Testimonial: "You were absolutely correct. Low coolant level. Put in some 50/50 and we're nice and toasty now, but need to find out why coolant was so low. Thanks."

SOURCE: MY 2000 GMC SIERRA HEAT BLOWS WARM BUT NOT HOT

This could possibly be a block in your heater core or the thermostat may be going bad and not circulating the antifreeze the way it should once the engine has warmed up. Have you had your antifreeze system flushed? If its a 2000 then its 10 years old and the system should be flushed and refilled

Heat works sometimes but when it does its not hot.

If the radiator is full of coolant, and the heater hoses are getting hot, the problem could be a blend door under the dash or the controller.

My 1989 GMC Sierra (350, 2WD) was leaking from the water pump and overheating...Installed new water pump and serpentine belt (after getting it off, it needed to be replaced)...Truck is still overheating,...

when replacing coolant, did you bleed the air from system! you can remove radiator or overflow cap when cold. start vehicle and let it run until thermostat opens, when all air is out hoses should get hot. but before starting, turn heater on to high setting, if you vehicle does not have a air bleeder on it. do as above. just be sure radiator is full of coolant. after hoses get hot, turn off heater, then put cap back on radiator or overflow. good-day! the first thing to do is to check for a stuck closed thermostat. do this first ok!

1993 gmc sierra c1500 radiator hose broken

Loosen the plastic petcock valve at the bottom of the radiator to drain the coolant from the radiator, loose and remove both hose clamps slide them down away from the clamping area then take a pair of large channel lock pliers and sqeeze gently and turn the rubber hose to crack the bond that exists between the rubber hose and the metal tube, be sure not to squeeze too tight when getting the hose to turn, proceed to pull the hose off. Install the new hose with clamps slide the clamps over the hose ends and tighten them being sure to locate them 1/4" from the end of the hose, refill radiator and check for leaks.

THE 1ST THING U DO IS GO UNDER THE HOOD WHEN ENGINE IS HOT, CHECK THAT BOTH HEATER HOSES (INLET AND OUTLET) ARE GETTING HOT, IF ONLY ONE IS HOT FLUSH THE CORE, IF BOTH ARE JUST WARM THEN THE THERMOSTAT IS DEFECTIVE IN THE ENGINE, REPLACE IT, LET ME KLNOW WHAT YOU FIND.

'95 sierra 2500. not heating up. replaced thermostat .

check and see if the heater valve is opening. it should be on one of the heater hoses. If it is open make sure that all the air is out of the engine. check and see if both sides of the radiator are the same temp. They should both be the same. If it was working before you changed the stat, then it could be a bad stat
