4JX1engine cut off and not starting

I have isuzu1998 3.0 bighorn with4JX1 engine. it was running perect when i wanted to get it serviced. my mechanic changed fuel filter and oil filter( only the longer bigger one was changed). while putting fuel filter some air might havr remained in the system as he pumped the filter after changing the filter but brether on top of filter was not opened. I put 5lt of castrol tection engine oil 15 W 40 as i couldnot find 10w 30 oil. i had to top up the oil as it was little less to upper level but the shops were closed. the car started nicely except that it made noise of vaccume like opening a coke bottle when engine was switched off and it made noise every time we swithed off. i overlooked that noise as i thought may be i have never noticed as i have never switched off when the bonnet was open. There was no other problems.it was nicely starting and raving. i drove for 2o minutes and it was running fine with good pick up. it had shown engine oil light for some time then it went off. after some 15minutes of driving i saw warning light for check engine. since but i had to reach back to mechanic so i continued driving. it was running perfecly but after 5minutes the engine went off very silently. after all this it never started. they have tried to pump fuel, open return line and pumped to get rid of air lock, checked fuse all fine engine was cranking nicely but not starting.
please advise as we in zambia and we lack proper backup.

thanks

Singh

Its the oil ! 15/40 is too thick it should be 5/30 or 10/30 fully synthetic .
The woosh noise is ok just the erg flap coming open .

Can an overheated transmision make the car to fail to start. my isuzu bighorn cant start

no,
run at full speed, yes, can fail
the engine must crank to start, (a/t cars only) and if cant crank it cant start.
so if it cranks,(old post) then next is spark
then try test fuel if spark is good on unstated engine
its not a diesel is it?

My bighorn is 1998 moder turbo diesel. I was running around 80 kph and engine suddenly stop. Tried to restart but engine failed to run.

hi..

My bighorn is 1998 moder turbo diesel
-this may because of the seizure of the engine. the piston may got seized with the liner. this happens because the engine oil is not sufficient to lubricate the moving parts. try to service the engine that is the only way for getting back the engine and keep a good track of yout engine oil

My isuzu is 1996 bighorn . problem is check engine light come on engine stopped . how to read DTC .

Not sure about DTC but Diesel Bighorns have a real problem with cooking their alternators which present with similar symptoms to what you have described.
Hope this helps.

Change your gearbox oil, and clean out the oil strainer.
Should help.

( On some models, you have to remove the gearbox oil pan to clean the strainer )

MY 1999 ISUZU BIGHORN CANT START EVERY MORNING

If its the diesel engine the fuel is running out the head overnight try parking the car with the back up higher than the front to prove this , then get the valve from the Isuzu dealer that stops this .
