Where is the a/c heater blower motor relay located

I have a duel control automatic temperature heater. Where do I find the relay?

    The front and back heater got hot but the front blower would not turn off. I fixed the problem with the information FixYa gave to me. It was the a/c heater blower motor resister, however it was $100. My car does not have the dial and slider control. My heater is a 3 zone automatic with duel control. As you indicated, it was behind the glove compartment. It may have been a little easier for someone else, because I am a 64 year old, disabled woman. I no longer have a lot of strength in my hands. Thank you very much for your help.

SOURCE: heater blower motor not working with control

Sounds like the blower motor resister went bad. It is located under the hood on the passengers side firewall above/behind the strut tower. It's kinda tricky to remove though. Unplug the wire harness to it and pull on it a little, while pulling try to get behind it on the left and right side with your finger tips and depress inwards on the clips that hold it in. Might have to make up a couple of bent screwdrivers to get in there. Buy the part and look at it and you'll see what you have to depress to remove the old one. The new one you just have to put the gasket on it and snap it into the hole. Good luck and I hope this was helpful.

SOURCE: locating heater blower motor resistor

the resistor is behind your glove box. open the box and push in the sides to release it and let it hang down...the resistor is right there. I didn't try to replace it, a friend did it, but the part was under $20.

First check fuse panel for burned fuse, if all o.k., Take a look up under passenger side dash, it's usually a common spot.When you find it, locate wires going into it & probe with 12vdc test light for power with key on & fan in run position. If light comes on by probing one of the wires, your fan motor is shot, if nothing at either wire, start back tracking for relay & switch malfunction.

SOURCE: blower motor in front works but back one does not.

Check for a fuse for it. It could something as simple as that or the switch or motor failed.

Manual or automatic climate control ? If it is a manual system the relay would be near the blower motor in the blower motor resistor assembly . This is behind the glove box .
If it is automatic system it doesn't have any relay's has blower motor control processor .

Could be one of blower motor relays contacts stuck closed . There are two blower motor relays 1 & 2 . One is located in the under hood fuse/relay box .
Or if your explore has automatic HVAC , it could be the front blower motor speed controller , this have been known to do this .
Which HVAC does your explorer have , manual or electronic automatic control.

heater core might need replaced . check the hoses going to it under the hood after it gets to operating temperature .One should be hot and the other not so much

2004. Why is the blower motor not receiving power?


The blower motor relay in the auxiliary junction box under the hood is good ? All relays ? only one controls the blower motor ! The electronic automatic temperature control module turns it on by supplying a ground inside the module ! The 30 amp fuse for the blower motor is located in the under hood auxiliary junction box ! At the relay socket test for battery voltage at pins 30 an 86 ,power form 30amp fuse ! The other two pins 85 an 87 ,85 is circuit to the electronic temperature control module . You could test this part of the circuit too , with a test light or volt meter . But if no voltage to the blower motor ,could be the electronic temperature control module is bad ! Need to locate the motor blower resistor for my 1999 mercury mountaineer, it has dual air, the resistor for the back is fine but the one in the front is bad and i cannot locate it. Please help.


If you have a manual system, you have a resistor. If electronic, you have a blower motor speed controller. Please rate if this helps.

The heater blower motor switch resistor has the following features:
  • The assembly is located on the evaporator housing in the engine compartment.
  • Three resistance elements are mounted on the resistor board to provide four blower motor speeds.
  • Depending on the heater blower motor switch position, series resistance is added or bypassed in the blower motor circuit to decrease or increase blower motor speed.
  • An overheating protective device (thermal limiter) will open the resistor coil circuit when the temperature reaches 121°C (250°F) interrupting the blower motor operation in all speeds except HI.
  • The thermal limiter cannot be reset and is not serviceable.

The blower speed control is located on the evaporator housing in the engine compartment.
  • The function of the blower motor speed control is to convert low power signals from the electronic automatic temperature control module to a high current, variable ground feed for the blower motor (18527).
  • The blower motor speed is infinitely variable and is controlled by the electronic automatic temperature control module software.
  • A delay function provides a gradual increase or decrease in blower motor speed under all conditions.

Where is the fan(blower control module) located on a 1993 Buick LaSabre the fan motor runs on high all the time even with the key off. this car has the automatic A/C-heater system


The blower control module is located under the hood along the firewall.It is about a foot from the blower motor.(more towards the passenger side) It is harder to see as the relay center is directly above it.

Heater on my envoy only works on 3-4 setting, could that be the switch.


Thanks for the opportunity to let me help. The blower control switch in your vehicle also uses a blower relay. This relay is generally located on the firewall on the passenger side near the heater fan. You can also look in you vehicle owners manual for the location of the blower relay, it may be also be located in the fuse and relay box under the hood. Generally speaking if the highest setting doesn't work on a GM vehicle it is a high blower Relay. This item is not expensive and can be purchased at most all you local Auto parts stores. If you have a Napa, Orielly's, or AutoZone these stores will also likely help you in the location if you are unable to locate this relay. Here is a general picturepepsiman1967.jpg The installation of this relay is either to remove from the fuse box, or if located near the heater fan housing then you will need to remove the mounting screws, remove the wiring clip, then reverse to install. Blend door for front temp control is stuck in the 'cold' position this winter. Is there a way to manually move and fix the door to get some heat?


you have to replace the blend (heat/cold) door motor, you can try to remove motor and turn door and try to jam something in door handle slot ,that the part that the motor turns,hope this helps.

the relay is built into the speed resistor or motor control module ) depends if you have automative or manual heater controls. is automatic it will be motor control module and manual is the resistor module. these units are located beside the heate fan motor. the motor helps keeps the unit cool. just unbolt the module, unplug it and install new one. Just check to make sure the connector is good.. The heat created by the connection sometimes melts the power or ground leads (red or black) and if this is so you will need to replace the pin.

Remove the screws. Remove the battery tray. Disconnect the heater blower motor switch resistor connector. Remove the heater blower motor switch resistor (18591). Remove the two screws.
