Question about 2001 Kia Sportage
If you believe your battery is good, any of the connections could be the weakest link, and all should be cleaned periodically. (Always disconnect the battery at the battery terminals before cleaning other connections.) One connection in particular gets the least amount of attention, it is the most overlooked and subject to the highest and most frequent temperature changes, just follow the negative( - ) or black cable to it's connection on the engine block, remove and clean well with sandpaper or rasp. Replace and tighten well. Repeat, this is the most neglected electrical connection in the system and is as important as any other for best charging results. In my case I learned from experience after changing both the alternator and battery.
