A good or new battery will last for almost 2 years with a good charging system.
if you always need to charge your battery to make it start then use for few days and recharge it again is abnormal
means you have problem on charging system.
need to repair or repalace the alternator.
have a shop to do the job and diagnose the other problem(s).

Could be a bad battery cable or connection, including the ground cables.

I had exactly same thing on my boat recently...which has a car motor in it. And I also charged the battery and I also had a reading that said I had charge. HOwever, I tried another battery from a car and it suddenly worked. Don't know why, but it really was the battery. When I put the old one back in, it still wouldn't start. With a new battery it's fine. Ya just never know why sometimes!! Good luck!

Battery indicator and brake light is on

The battery light indicates the cars Alternator is not charging the battery, this can be the alt that is defective or the wiring to it.

1993 volkswagon passat VR6 wont start

Sounds like a blown fuse or wiring problem.
A mechanic would check to see if the starter will crank with power direct from the battery, then look for power to the starter from the key switch.

98 volkswagon cabrio convertable gls battery & alarm trouble

I had a simular problem with my car nto starting, but the alarm didn't have issues just the headlights and the radio not turning off. I replaced the ignition switch and the problem was fixed for a while until the ignition switch malfunctioned again. The ignition switch is a cheap plastic part that connects the key to the engine, and has a tendency to break. Maybe this will help. Btw, I have a 1998 and mine is not starting well, do you know anything about #3 relays? I think I may need to replace it, so that my car will start and not putter to a stop randomly while driving. The problem only arises when the car is not yet warm. Amy ideas?

When I go to start my 98 cabrio the engine won't turn over, it just clicks. I tried a few more times and it started just fine for about 4 or 5 times. Now it just clicks again. The battery is fairly new and...

Sounds like it could be the starter again. Most aftermarket starters, and alternators too, are rebuilt, and sometimes you get a bad one. You can check the other obvious stuff, battery cables, fuses, relays, etc., but most likely the starter is going.
