Question about 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora

Dash gauges and Information center work intermittantly - All fuses are in good

It started out as just a flicker of the gauges. Now, it is dead and only flickers on once every 80-100 miles for 5-30 sec, then its off for good. When the gauges are not working the information center does not work either. When it starts working the warning lights and chimes turn on like I just started the vehicle then go out like normal than a few seconds later the dash just stops working.

No, nothing works when the gauges are dead. When gauges start working face lights will turn on if lights are on. But as soon as gauges stop working all the lights go out on the dash.

Is it the lights of the gauges dont light up or the gauges dont work period? if they dont light up then check the bulbs that are behind the gauge cluster and they could be burnt out i have the flickering prob with my ac hvac controls and half the lights on my gauges dont light up due to bulbs being burnt out i just havent spent the money to get some blue leds to put in there

Often this kind of problem is caused by s faulty ground connection.

If it uses the common type of 'Christmas Tree' connector, it will have one center screw surrounded by a 'daisy' with petals bent up at an angle and plugs attached to some or all of the 'petals.'

Try tightening the center screw and pull/push back on each connector.

Why does my gauge cluster stop working?

they have an issue with the instrument panel connectors, my 05 2500 hd has an intermittent problem where it goes dead and if you smack the dash or hit a bump driving it will reset. It got much better when I put an extra twist in the cable before connecting it. I also got a replacement cluster due to bad lights etc and it does the same as the old one,I think it's a loose pin, probably ground but haven't gotten around to fixing it. my 95 c 1500 did the same

ill pretend yes......
blown fuse. what else could cause so many things, to lose DC power.
>?
a fuse can be good, bad or intermittent , even corroded,
a tech would scratch head and pick the easiest fault to fix.
my guess, is
dashboard doesnt work means the guages , and idiot lamps are dead but the park lamps there (dimmable) do work.
so what fuse is that.? i say to self.....
I open the FSM. and look at the power cluster feed.
what do i see.?

i look in instruments page. (aka. cluster)
tells you how it works
then i jump wiring page 8w-40-2
i see what, Fuse 10. is it good? and fuse 17.
fuse 10 is key on,, and fuse 17, is hot full time.

thats it, if the cluster is dead, only fuses can kill it 100% dead
or it losts its main ground, which is unlikely but voltmeter proves
in 1min flat. (G201)

i picked right, the cluster dead, is the most simple
if Headlights are dead, its most simple (not in Canada with DRL)

bingo?

Your dash needs to come out. These bulbs push into a plastic piece that "twists" into the back of the dash board. (About a 1/4 turn) Unless you can get at them from underneath, but I think it's to tight.
