Question about 1983 Dodge Pickup
Hi i have a 1983 dodge power ram 150 custom 318 engine 4x4 pickup truck and am unable to find parts for it by model make no one seems to carry this model so my question now is can i find it by year or engine type? I need a transmission for my truck not sure what type since i cant find info on my model some people tell me i need a 727 transmission how can i be sure and find one?
On the drivers side bottom of the tranny, there should be embossed numbers on the tranny housing. I have a 1983 dodge ram also. It has a 318 with 727 trans.

The 318 was an engine fitted to all manner of vehicles dating back for quite a few years.A torqueflite sounds right although your trans woulld be different than sedan etc due to having a trransfer case to have to run.It may be easier to drop it off at auto trans specialist who can recondition the original one.At least it would save hassles from compatibility issues etc.For engine parts look under sedans that used the same engine.Asalvage yard would be a good place to look for the numbers you need .Are there no web sites that deal with your type of truck?4x4 clubs etc
