Get a new plug. Removing the old one shouldnt be that difficult, unless some numbskull used impact wrench on it. You can try vice grips. I also saw a Damaged.nut bolt kit at Sears.

Hi there
Well there is a few ways to remove a rounded sump plug and the best way will be to either drill a center hole [small] then let it drain out the oil, then drill out with a bigger one and use a easy out to un do it [ but when its out put some of the old oil back in to wash out any swarf ] replace new plug with new gasket washer but dont over tighten when replacing .
THE other way is to tap it with a screwdriver and hammer but only lightly and on the plug only. and do it after a run so the oil and sump plug are hot.

My drain plug bolt has been rounded off what should I do

Get a good pair of vice grips

or a medium plumbers' stillson pipe wrench

and remove the sump plug with this. Catch the oil in a clean container for reuse (if you want) and take the old plug to an auto parts store, where they sell many different thread sizes. Make sure to have a soft washer between plug and sump when replacing it.

Where are oil drain holes located

It's easy to do - the most difficult part is going to be finding the correct wrench to fit the plugs - you need a 10mm square drive - I know it looks like it's a 3/8" square drive, but it's not, and if you use a 3/8" square ratchet drive, as many people do, you run the risk of rounding out the hole...

Park the car on level ground and set the hand brake (parking brake), slide under the rear end and remove the fill plug (the higher of the two plugs) first - if you do not get the fill plug out, do not remove the drain plug.

Once you have the fill plug out, place a drain pan under the axle and remove the drain plug (the lower plug) and allow the oil to drain - give it half an hour or so - and then replace the drain plug and add oil through the fill hole until it starts to dribble back out, and then replace the fill plug.

You need 2.5 litres (5.3 US pints) of 75W85 GL5 oil, and it helps if you get yourself one of those cheap "oil pumps" - 1?mpt=1886339750&adtype=1&size=1x1&type=3&campid=5336116678&toolid=10001 amazon_icon.gif 1?mpt=1886339750&adtype=1&size=1x1&type=3&campid=5336116678&toolid=10001 this is just an example, I'm sure the auto parts place nearest you has something similar.

Drain pan damaged, oil leaking from oil filter and drain plug, drain plug damaged. This is according to Walmart, after i left the car to have the oil changed.

may want to get a second opinion from a mechanic you trust. the oil pan being damaged would mean it is cracked because it is made of aluminum on the 3.1 and the3.4 liter engines.drain plug damaged could just be rounded off in which case Wal-mart will not fool with. oil filter leak could be smply residue from a previous oil change. again I suggest a second opinion

How do you change the oil in a 2000 Toyota Celica Gt?

put a jack so that you can slip in under the engine... at the oil pan its the only bottom part of the engine you'll see a drain plug remove that, thats where the oil drains out. but before doing that start your engine first atleast 5 to 10 mins. then turn of the engine, then perform the draining... leave it for atleast an hour then put back the drain plug... others replace also the oil filter its located at the side of the engine bit lower its round tin metal like... but you should have a tools for that, because thats tight and slippery w/o the tools... after doing that put the new oil remove the oil cap at the top of the engine then pour the new oil, make sure you check the manufacturers oil level.

Where is the oil drain plug on a 1999 dodge intrepid 3.2 liter

There should be a drain plug on the oil pan and it is advised to have a metric socket set with 6 point sockets, so you don't round it off. It's usually cheaper to take it to a good oil change place to save the headaches.

Which plug drains the oil

It's on the bottom of the engine. You'll see the oil pan (smooth, rounded edges) and the drain plug on one of the bottom edges. Problem is, you need to remove several T20 torx fasteners and the car's belly pan to access the oil drain bolt (should be 19mm wrench) on the Jetta.

How do I drain the oil and change the oil filter?

underneath the front of your car there will be the bottom of your engine, and what will look like a large metal sink basin with rounded corners, there will be a bolt this is your drain plug get a large container to catch the oil remove the bolt, and drain as for the oil filter it is a small coffee can sized cylender on the rear of your engine after draining the oil twist off the filter (its the only Orange or brightly colored cylender on your engine) replace it with a new one put the drain plug back in and fill it back up with oil one quart at a time through the fill hole on the top of your engine untill the dipstick reads full
