Diagram for engine timing for a 3100 Chevy V6

It's on TDC so align marks on cam shaft and crank shaft with center of cam & crank shafts and the ECM will go from there. so you will have to change the timing chain if its loose or worn out.

Where is my power steering pump located? (3100 v6 engine)

It is right on top of the front center of the engine. (Right side of car) It has a cap on top that is marked "POWER STEERING"
If you look in the owner's Manual on page 6-10 there is a picture of the engine compartment with arrows to show you where it is. It is marked by arrow "E".

If you do not have an Owner's Manual, here is a link to download a FREE PDF version.

Are lifters a common problem on chevy malibu 3100

That depends on when was the last time the car was serviced and how many miles its done since the last service.

If its a high milage car then having the valves set should clear up the misfire and the lifter tick.

CHANGED LOWER INTAKE GASKET ON A 2001 GRAND AM WITH A 3100 NOW I AM GETTING A POPING SOUND WHEN RUNNING ALOS RUNS LIKE THE TIMING IS OFF ANY HELP?

There is no ignition timing adjustment on a 3100. So look to see if you have a vacuum leak or you may have spark plug wires miss routed. It's tough to see on the back side of the engine where the wires go.
