Tell me what happened? Yes it is right next to the filter, and there's only one. Did your car die and the low oil pressure light go on?

Location of oil pressure switch 98 durango

please remember I am NOT there in front of you! my answers are based on your information the oil pressure sender is located in the rear of the engine on the passenger side next to the distributor you will need a special socket to install it without damaging it, it is called a deep oil pressure sender socket, here is a picture looking from the REAR of the engine, the only problem you may have is releasing the red slide lock it can be easy or difficult i clean the connector first then slide the red lock over and release the connector. 2003 yukon denali oil pressure switch pegged over the 80 psi indicator. Oil qty is good.

Sounds like a bad oil pressure sending unit.

Try unplugging it and see if the gauge drops to zero. If it does than replacing the oil pressure sending unit will most likely fix your problem.

It is not easy to see or get at but you can find it on the back side of the engine on the drivers side, kind of in between the valve cover and the intake plenum

you either have a faulty oil pressure switch or you have poor oil pressure.if you find the oil pressure switch remove it and install a manuel oil pressure guage there. then you will see if it is the actual oil pressure weak or if it is the switch.
