if you go to turn the engine over and all the reds are off its more than likely one of the computers has become faulty in the car to check it is quite easy you can get some one to come out with a tech 2 diagnostic computer to see if they can read it.

Add a Commentif the reds come on it could be a faulty starter motor or the battery could have dropped a cell to check the battery you will need a multi meter and when you turn the key the voltage will drop a fully charged batter should read around 12.5 volts if it drops when you go to start the car lower than 11.48 volts means the battery is no longer able to hold the correct charge

No power to dash, key in ignition does nothing.

If I understand correctly, the headlights and brakelights work but the vehicle will not start and the dash lights do not work. That sounds impossible, so I'll merely suggest that you check the battery connectors and see that they are tightened down snug.

You should not be able to easily move them with a pliers. Sometimes, if you loosen them just a tad, and twist them a little, and retighten, you get better contact.

98 vt comodore turns over but wont start

It could be the bcm or the key needs recoding to the immobiliser I had the same problem or it most likely is the crank angle sensor's not sending any information through to the spark plugs rendering your car as useful as a crayboat anchor

Ignation wont start

If your battery checks out, but the starter is still silent, it may be a faulty ignition switch. Turn the key to the on position (not all the way to start). If the red warning lights on your dash don't light up (and your battery connections are clean), the ignition switch is bad. If they do light up, turn the key to the start position. The dash warning lights should turn off at this key position (most cars). If you're not sure, turn on the headlights. When you try to start the car, the lights should either dim (a lot) or turn off completely. If they do, your ignition switch should be ok. If not, the switch will need replacement.
