That's not nice I would not want to be you when the steering wheel locked. It is possible that the steering lock mechanism has failed but is also possible that something has jammed to the system. Either in the steering box war in the steering system.
Others suggest that you get it checked properly so as not to put yourself or your family at risk.Regards

I have a 98 Nissan altima gxe and my alarm won't honk when I lock the car but the lights go off when I lock it and Wen I take the alarm off no honk or lights go off Wat can I do

holdboth the lock and unlosk buttons on your remote simultaneously for about five seconds until the lights flash and horn chirps.that should do it.if not i believe these models used a separate horn for security system.possibly fuse for this horn is bad or the horn itself is see if this horn works lower drivers window.stand outside vehicle and lock doors with remote.wait about a minute and reach in window and MANUALLY unlock and open door(do not use power door lock button)this should cause the system to activate...horn should beep and headlamps should flash.if horn beeps try my first suggestion.if it doesnt beep and just the head lamps flash check fuses and horn for security system.

My 97 maxima is making noise as if the brake pads where rubbing against the rotor from my left side an as i hit 60+ the care starts vibrating wat could it be

If your pads are rubbing, then this would cause an overheating of the rotor. Which in turn would cause the rotor to warp, and cause a vibration. It would be noticeable when you put on the brakes. vibration at the steering wheel. If it is rubbing this would be caused by the brake hose deteriorating and clogging up, or the caliper is locking up. One other thing that would cause the noise and vibration is that the wheel bearing is going out. Have this checked. To check the bearing you can raise that wheel off the ground, Grab it on the top and bottom and try to move it, (not spin it) up and down, If there is any movement/ play , it's the bearing. Also while it is off the ground, spin it if it is dragging the least little bit and doesn't turn freely the caliper is not releasing entirely, to see if it is the caliper or hose , loosen the bleeder valve on the caliper, if it spins freely then, it's the hose, if it doesn't it's the caliper. Either way I recomend that you replace the hose on both sides, as they are old.Randy

Nissan Sentra 2008 will not start

First try turning the steering wheel and jiggling the key simultaneously. If this doesn't work, your problem could be caused by the link between the ignition lock and the switch. Have your ignition switch and your key tumbler assembly replaced. It's an 08. It's under warranty !

4-wheel drive will not lock-Nissan Titan

I checked a consumer advocate site and realized that I am not the only one with this problem. I read that there is a problem with the Nissan Titan tailpipe falling off, well the problem with this is that it melts the wire harnes that goes to the abs and rear wheel sensors. Since this system is all interconnected it causes the 4 wheel drive not to work. In particular I found an unprotected wire harness disconnected by the passanger side rear wheel that was broke, after stripping this wire and reconnecting it, it turned on the 4-wheel drive. Make sure the truck is off and it is in 2 wheel mode when this is reconnected it could cause a blown fuse or an electric shock. Trial an reading free blogs solved my $675 diognostic fee, pass this on I am sure I am not the only one with this problem.
