Question about GMC Jimmy
Recently changed transmission filter and fluid. now ihave only2nd.3rd. drive wont change automattically have to change manually. it also bangs into gear super hard when i start out in drive it almost feels like it is slipping when check engine light came on i had it checked and the code is po758 can someone tell me what and how to fix this and about what it will cost me?
I don't know what the code means but in my experience with automatic transmissions is that if you do an oil change on a transmission that has not had one for an extended period of time, the new oil can help strip cell linings of the clutches.
I had a Ford V8 several years ago and it just dropped its guts all of a sudden. It wouldn't change gears properly and in reverse it would shudder as it tried to take hold. When I removed the transmission I found that the linings of a clutch face had been completely damaged. I had not change the oil in the car since I bought it second hand and when I changed the oil this is what happened.
I would suggest that your best option would be to take it to an auto trans specialist who can diagnose the problem by simply removing the sump on the gearbox. He then can tell you whether or not there has been damage will whether or not the transmission just needs to be adjusted.

It will work but you will have to modify the crossmember and driveshaft and the computer. The 4l60e is an easy trans to recondition

I would change the filter and fluid and go from there. sounds like it might be starving for oil but if you can change it yourself and see how dirty the pan is inside with clutch dust or filings. there usually is a magnet in the pan to catch the filings debris be sure to clean it off also nice to know how it is wearing between oil changes

SOURCE: its feels like it slips
Not too good. The least expensive change you can make is the oil. Go to a Mr Lube and have them do a hot change and put an additive into it. The new oil will help the clutches to grab and the additiv e will free up the valve body to shift properly. If that doesn't work you either need to rebuild it or replace it with a used one. Sometimes you can get lucky and find factory GM rebuild at the wrecker that will give you years of good use. The key is fresh oil and change it after the first 20k, then it's probably good for 60 more.
