Question about 2000 Buick LeSabre
I have a 2000 Buick LeSabre the security light, check engine light & gas cap loose light is on. I had a dx test done only stated that the cap needed to be replaced...replaced the cap & the lights are still on..I was told that I should by a cap from the manufacturer & have the battery removed & then plugged back in to remove lights. Should I try that 1st or just take the car to a mechanic? I don't really have a mechanic that I really trust. I've had alot of bad experiences w/them.
A factory fuel cap would be a good start. The other possibility is that the vent solenoid is stuck open. Ou can buy an inexpensive code reader for about $50 that will both read and clear codes. If the new dealer gas cap took car of the problem than the light will stay off after you clear it. If it was to the problem than the light will come back on. The EVAP system can be checked with a smoker. Any good shop that deals with these problems will have one. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!
