It could be rebiuldable but youd have to take the motor out and take it to a machine shop to have it tested. or it could be as simple as a timing belt busted

My tracker turns over but doesnt start

Have you checked for fuel and spark? Listen for the fuel pump to buzz for about two seconds when the key is first turned on. No buzz could be a bad pump, relay or PCM fault.

Check for spark. No spark maybe the coil or ignition module.

There are plenty more things in each system to go over. It helps to start eliminating the obvious and go from there.

After you have checked for spark and fuel, get back with me and I'll see what I can do.

My 98 5.7 vortez has two dead cylinders #2 #4 i have checked spark also took off injectors cleaned and checked but still dead. I ran compression check all at 135 to 140 but #2 #4 have zero.

Ooh...not good. There's zero compression on those two cylinders? Either timing is off, head gasket failure, valve seat failure, or piston ring failure.

I'm about to purchase a 2002 4 cyliner 4wd tracker. How do I know if the factory recalls have been done to this vehicle?

Most any GM dealership can check the VIN of your vehicle and tell you, free of charge, and over the phone.

1999 tracker will not start. I have checked plugs and they get fire, and there is plenty of air, but no fuel, replaced fuel pump and still no fuel. there is power.

correction , check compression after certain the Timing belt has not slipped and cam timing is off.
if cam slips by more than 20 degress , say good by motor.
