These engines were notorious for an intake gasket problem make sure the antifreeze isn't in the oil or vice versa. A bad intake gasket will make it suck air into combustion chamber causing a misfire

couple of things, did you actually gap the plugs yourselfor did you go on the assumption that they are pre gapped ? are the lead wires all in the correct firing order ? Is it possible a vacuum line got dis-connected ? I would also check the cap and the rotor.

SOURCE: i own a 96 chevy k1500 5.7 l vortec and have a no 5 cyl misfire

I had a similar problem with a vortec. cause was faulty intake gaskets. The plastic gaskets sag in the middle over time and allow air between the intake and head. Felpro makes a steel/rubber replacement that is much better. hope that works for you.

GMC Sierra Code P0300 Check engine light

GMC Sierra with the code P0300 Q: I have the 2003 GMC Sierra with the code P0300. What could be the problem? A: The code P0300 means "Random Cylinder Misfire". This means that the engine computer has detected that one or more of the cylinders misfire randomly. This code could take some time to diagnose, as there could be a wide range of reasons for the engine cylinders to misfire. Here are just a few examples: bad spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor cap/rotor, bad fuel injectors, bad airflow sensor, broken or weak valve spring, leaking valve, low fuel pressure, manifold gasket leak, clogged catalytic converter, etc. Take your truck to a knowledgeable mechanic and have it check out - driving with the misfiring engine can damage your catalytic converter.
The mechanic can scan the engine computer with the scan tool and see the conditions when the misfire happens and check which cylinders are misfiring. A number of of other things will need to be checked to find the cause (e.g vacuum leaks, exhaust back-pressure, compression, etc.).

I have a 2002 GMC Sierra 1500. 4.3 liter engine. I brought it to autozone and they put the gauge on it and got two codes P0140 and P0300. I had my distributor cap replaced, ignition rotor, plugs ,wires,...

Clean mass air flow sensor with a nonchlronated brake cleaner, install new air filter and check all vacuum lines for leaks then check for vacuum leak around or at intake manifold.Code P0140 is for mass air flow sensor code P0300 is a multiple misfire which more than likely is a vacuum leak possibly intake manifold gaskets leaking.

My 1996 gmc sierra with a 4.3 vortec in it seems like its missing, even though i changed the spark plugs and wires, distributor cap and rotor it worked very well after i did that and now its back like its...

Does it miss at idle or going down the road, maybe both? Any applicable trouble codes? If you have that spider fuel system, I usually suspect that first. That system is noted for problems.
You could try a cylinder balance test, engine idling, you could kill the cylinders one at a time, quickly. If you kill a cylinder that has no effect on the idle, the cylinder is dead. Then you have to decide if problem is spark--fuel--compression on that cylinder.
