couple of things, did you actually gap the plugs yourselfor did you go on the assumption that they are pre gapped ? are the lead wires all in the correct firing order ? Is it possible a vacuum line got dis-connected ? I would also check the cap and the rotor.

SOURCE: i own a 96 chevy k1500 5.7 l vortec and have a no 5 cyl misfire

I had a similar problem with a vortec. cause was faulty intake gaskets. The plastic gaskets sag in the middle over time and allow air between the intake and head. Felpro makes a steel/rubber replacement that is much better. hope that works for you.

What will cause misfire in 1990 gmc sierra 1500

If you have replaced the ignition components, that would leave compression and fuel. Your truck has two injectors, one for each bank of cylinders. So one injector could be weak and causing a lean mixture for 4 of the 8 cylinders.
Normally you would perform a compression test on all 8 cylinders and then average them out. Each cylinder should be within 10 percent of the others.

1997 Gmc sierra 1500 350 vortec wont start

The distributor is out of time. Bring it back to #1 TDC and try to drop it in. If it doesn\'t go in all the way, it\'s because the oil pump drive isn\'t lining up. All you do is have someone "tap" the engine over in very short bursts. Eventually it will line itself up and drop in. Unfortunately, even if you get it started, you will probably get a check engine light. If you do, you will need access to a scanner that will display data. Look for a data line called "CMP Retard", make small adjustments to the timing and snap the throttle. Get this reading as close as possible to 0. I believe the tolerance is +/- 2 degrees. If you can\'t get it close enough, the distributor is still out a tooth. ALSO, keep in mind that the air filter must be in place. Without the inlet hoses, the mass airflow sensor cannot read properly.
Good luck!

I have a 2002 GMC Sierra 1500. 4.3 liter engine. I brought it to autozone and they put the gauge on it and got two codes P0140 and P0300. I had my distributor cap replaced, ignition rotor, plugs ,wires,...

Clean mass air flow sensor with a nonchlronated brake cleaner, install new air filter and check all vacuum lines for leaks then check for vacuum leak around or at intake manifold.Code P0140 is for mass air flow sensor code P0300 is a multiple misfire which more than likely is a vacuum leak possibly intake manifold gaskets leaking.
