On the top driver side of a 3.3 ltr engine there is a water leak between the engine and where the trasmission connects. I thought it was originally the water pump then filled with water and it ran out the opposite side of where the pump is
Water is dripping from between the engine and the flywheel. It is coming out by the oil pan. The water is clear (as my antifreeze had already dripped out and I replaced it with clear water to test). My oil is not "foamy". It's not coming from the heater hoses that run just above there, and the water pump is on the other end of the engine near the passenger tire. I can't find the source of the leak - any ideas?

For all dodge minivans 94 to 2001 (and others) with 3.0 ltr V-6. You're driving on the freeway your temp gauge starting to go up. You get off the freeway. when the engine is cooled down you discover that the coolant in gone. You refill the radiator and look for a leak but can't find one. You check the oil but its not foamy, so no coolant there. If all seems to be operating normally, check under the vehicle when the engine is warmed up. There may be a slight coolant leak on the passenger side near the front tire .When the water pump on these engines typically coolant will leak out of the pump thru a "weep hole" located at the bottom of the pump. Most of the loss occurs while driving so your only indication may be that small drip of coolant. The water pump is powered by the camshaft timing belt and is located under the timing belt cover and can not be seen, however any coolant leak, no matter how small, in the area just to the rear of the crankshaft pulley is almost surely a failed water pump and must be addressed immediately
Seems the smoke is the hot steam from the coolant. That escapes from your radiator.
The culprit would be the radiator cap. The coolant when your engine is hot, goes to your coolant reservoir, and it( coolant ) should go back to the radiator when your engine cools down.
The coolant failed to go back to the radiator because the radiator rubber seal is already broken and suppose to **** the coolant from the reservoir.
Coolant also escapes from the radiator, thats why you see some coolant from both sides of your radiator. The heat inside the radiator expands the coolant and the only course is through some crack seals.
Radiator cap have pressure rating that opens its valve in a certain pressure.

Make sure it's cool, pop the radiator cap, Remove the shield on the passenger side between the tire and front of engine. Relieve the tension on the serp belt,draw yourself a diagram of the pulleys and belt routing in case the sticker is gone on the strut tower, remove the serp belt. Take the bolts out of the pulley on the front of the water pump (3). Remove the lower radiator hose at the front cover to drain the coolant. Remove the 6 mm bolts holding the water pump to the front cover housing. tap on the pump with a rubber hammer. Install a new gasket on the new pump, and a weap hole diverter in the pump (round black about hte size of a quarter), use old one if there's no new one. Install pupm and tighten bolts snug with a 1/4" ratchet. Install pulley and 3 bolts. Install belt, top off radiator with 50/50 mix green coolant. start engine and run to operating temperature,make sure the belt is seated in all of the pulleys and is running true, radiator fans should come on. Shut engine down and let cool overnight. Check level in radiator and overflow bottle, top off as necessary.
