My 99 GMC Safari Van has not been run much in the past year.I drove it the other day,and when I got back home, smoke was coming from underneath. I looked and it was oil that had blown on to the exhaust pipe.Any suggestions as to the problem?.....Thanks

It should be the switch on the tranny that turns on the reverse lights.

Pay close attention to the 'fixing leaks' part. You will probably need a heater core (from the sounds of it).

Rear Wheel Seal & Bearing on 1999 GMC Safari Van

Yes you do have to pull the axle and make sure you put everything back in the same place you removed it from. The ring and pinion shouldn't have to be bothered. You will have to remove the rear end cover to remove the axle. Its very easy to do. There is a pin inside the rear end that has to be removed to pull the axle. Pay attention to how you take it out and put it back the same way. It sounds as if you can do this with no problem.
