SOURCE: my check engine light indicator came on. What can

Mine has the same problem and also failed emissions. I was told it was the 02 sensor (related to exhaust). Someone else told me it was a mass air flow sensor which can be found in the air filter housing box.

First scanned the PCM (computer) to know exactly what fault code is stored there; when check engine light come on, some fault code is there.

Hi my 2006 3.2 blows puffs of un-burnt diesel smoke intermittently after it has been driven in traffic


have the variable vanes in the turbo checked for correct operation
there is an actuator that is vacuum
electrical sensor controlled and the vanes may be sticking at slow engine operations as on traffic
the smoke color indicates incorrect air/fuel ratio and the turbo is a point to investigate

any air leak will cause problems as for the ruff idling i would say it was fuel starvation as it is common. that would be down to the fuel regulator valve. this would also make other codes pop up.(exhaust gas temp sensor). Bentleys are a service nightmare false cods will pop up with the original fault. put engine into limp mode. also if it is an automatic the breather hose for the automatic needs to be cleaned every now and then as this can cause low speed and high fuel, cam belt need to be check on a regular basis and changed every 2 years min. cam and crank sensors on some models have been know to fail when engine is warm. if the codes were rest and fine for a few days then it is not a serious problem it sould like a lose wire on a sensor. these show up more in wet and damp weather. as you say you can afford to fix this problem I would have a rolling road test done this is the car is put on the computer and the car is driven on the rolling road. this is a better way of finding faults. also you get a good read out of what the engine is doing and not doing. also would have some one check the dampener for the throttle check as these can move and also cause low idle.

need to check the charging system..when a car sits for a long time the battery should be disconnected or compl,etely removed..sounds like operating voltage is too low check the alternator for stuck brushes or malfunctioning regulator..should show around 14.5 -16 volts..

Check Engine light on. 2003 non turbo, bought new. At 60,000 miles it over heated and a shop replaced radiator, thermostat etc. Car was driven about 10 minutes hot and then towed to shop for those rep


I'm an ASE cert. technician and I've never had trouble from the aftermarket cam sensors on these engines. You may want to double check that connection since this is a common problem on these engines. You'll also want to look at the old sensor. Did it look like something had rubbed into it? The cams on these engines are known to "walk" back and grind into the sensor.

Check engine light on


Oftentimes the check engine light will come on with no adverse effects. the computer may have detected an intermittent problem. The light may go off on it's own it a few days. I would recommend "scanning" the system and retreve the trouble code and determine what is really wrong.

I have 1997 Bentley Turbo RL. If I leave it more than 10 days the battery goes flat. Tried brand new batteries - same problem. I now have to keep it on charge when I leave it for a while. Any ideas...


you have something that is drawing the juice out of it. it could be as little as a hood or trunk lamp. check it good and you will find the problem! there is a way to check it out to see if there is something is on. remove negative battery terminal, put a 12 volt test lamp between the negative cable end and battery, hold it there for about 3 minutes, after 3 minutes touch the negative battery cable clamp to the negative post on battery do not remove test light from either end while doing this.if light glows when touching battery. most likely you have a drain problem. ( the light will, be dim as this is normal because of the pcm, but if its bright check it out! good-day !

Turbo= not working


Most likely the turbo is gone. What ever part of the turbo went, just replace the entire turbo. Not serviceable 99% of the time. The engine will not like being driven for any extended period of time with a bad turbo.

Continous check engine soon light


I have engine light on mine as well. The car is not used daily or even weekly and finally tracked it to a low charge/faulty battery.
