Question about 1989 Dodge D150
I changed the oil and found that it smelled like fuel and was over filled because of it
Did you have a hard start or no start problem recently ? If you did you were dumping fuel into engine with no spark, which ends up sitting on top of the piston & eventually running down into the oil pan. If not, my guess is you have an injector(s) leaking down while sitting. Check your PCV is clean & working as well.

If you have too much gas running down past your pistons you will wash your rings out and you will have to pull the engine apart and replace the piston/rings
