If this happened after an oil change, it is best to check that the oil filter and sump plug are tightened and sealed correctly (not leaking) also check that the level and type of oil is correct

SOURCE: ESC light came on when driving - then check engine light

Likley there is a misfire in one of the cylinders. Usually due to worn out sparkplugs or wires. A check by the local mechanic, using his/her computor will pinpoint the problem. Or go to your local auto supply store & purchase the little computor to connect to your car computor (under dash at steering wheel). This will allow you to turn off the light. Cost is about $170.00 (Can.)
Hope this helps!

SOURCE: I think I forgot to put oil in the car or even check it...Oooops!

It is not knowing for sure the damaged parts to replace, since all moving parts get overheat due to lack of lubrication.
Let put in oil and start up the engine. Run for 15 minutes then change the Oil + filter. Pay attention toirregular noise when Engine running. Hope for the best and try to use the engine as long as it lasts. If there is a problem, don't fix it , just a replacement with a used engine. Why, without oil, all crankshaft, camshaft bearings, Piston rings...really burnt out already... Good luck

05 suzuki forenza running sluggish

Generally, fuel problems cause an engine to lack power.
If the check engine light is on you should have it scanned for trouble codes. The fuel filter should be replaced every 30-50,000 miles and the air filter checked at every oil change.

I was driving my 2004 Nissan Maxima on the highway, when I came to my exit & a stop light when my car began to ****, and flash the service engine light. It felt like it was going to cut off any minute....

I think you'd be well advised to have the electrical charging system checked. Also check out the negitive connections from the battery to the body....Check all ground connections, and the alternator for output....If you have a digital meter you can do that yourself by placing the positive probe to that side of the battery and the neg to the other....Battery voltage should be around 12.5 with afully charged battery....Once the engine runs you should get an alternator output measured the same way of about 13.5volts. If the engine check light came on you get a scan to be on the safe side....I suspect a bad electrical connection....Best of luck Johngee

Took a road trip to houston and since i've been back the car is sputtering and running sluggish. the check engine light just came on this morning on my way into work. any thoughts? oil was just changed...

Try running some fuel injector or fuel system cleaner through the engine and be certain your gas cap is on tight. While you might have encountered some bad gas on your trip it is likely coincidental , due to running at highway speeds for an extended time. Your check engine light is linked to the fuel air mixture ECU which regulates fuel mixture. If an O2 sensor on the engine or exhaust area is clogged or failing due to leaky catalytic converter, the ECU will attempt to adjust your fuel mixture which will affect your idle.
Have a tech run a readout on the vehicle after cleaning the fuel system. The readout will indicate what caused the check engine light to come on.

My car was running beautifully, had a oil change and filters change, again drove beautifully for 3 days, then overnight, it starts great, but shakes between 5mph-25 mph, and is sluggish when i take off...

Have your fuel filter changed, your fuel filter may be at the end of it's life time and is dirty. The fuel filter should be replaced every 15,000 miles or once a year to ensure that the fuel system is running at 100%. Try that first and if there is an Auto Zone around your area, have the car scanned for the DTC codes. Auto Zone scan free of charge and can give you the recommended steps to addressing the issue that is causing your engine problem. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help you get your car running 100% again soon.

I have a 2003 vw passat 2.8L while changing the spark plugs I noticed oil in the spark plug holes. After gapping and installing the new plugs I drove the car about 20 mile and the check engine light...

Unfortunately the check engine light could be caused by hundreds of things and yet it could have something to do with your changing of the plugs. Do me a favor and take the car to your local auto parts store and they will check the code for the engine light for you for free. Bring that code back here and I will help you figure out what is causing the light and the slugish engine. Sorry for your problem but I'm sure I can help you get it fixed. Thanks for using FixYa!

Transmission Component Slipping (TCC Stuck off)

code p 1870 refers to transmission component slipping
That can be from dirty oil or a clutch pack or band slipping or low oil pump pressure in the transmission
you say that it occurs on highway driving after 2 hours and that slipping will add friction heat to the transmission oil bringing on the oil temp light
take it to an accredited transmission professional service center that works on your make of vehicle , have the oil changed which require the pan removal
at the same time that will allow the adjustments to be done
when reassembled and refilled , have a pump pressure test done
