Question about 2004 GMC Envoy
My 2002 envoy did not start everything appears to be dead. Ichecked the battery, which was fully charged. I slammed the hood down. Lights went on car started. An hour later while idling it died repeated the slam and again started. Went to dealer. He told me to replace the ignition switch cost $54.00 part $135.00 labour. I asked him will that fix the problem. He replied it is a start. At the same time they cleaned up the throttle plate cost $150.00. From reading the problems with other Envoys they may have found the problems. At least this website did confirm that the issues are common and the dealer is on the right track. Not cheap mind u, but cheaper than buying a new one. We will see.

I've found that the steering lock on some vehicles will interfere with the ignition lock and the steering wheel may have to be rocked to find the right position.
I think the purpose of this was to ensure that the steering lock is engaged before you can take the key out; don't ask me why - if the key is out and anyone tries to steal the car, the steering wheel will find the pin the first time the wheel is turned 90-180 degrees anyhow.

The ignition key cylinder in a Buick
unlocks the ignition and allows the Buick's engine to start. The
cylinder contains a switch on the end of it (inside the cylinder) that
sends an electric signal to the starter motor. When the ignition key
cylinder fails, the Buick won't start. When this happens, you'll need a
new ignition cylinder. Purchase replacement cylinders from Buick.
