P1693, MIL reqest circuit malfunction promblem cause, 1) open or short circuit condition, 2) message timeout from TCM, 3) Failed TCM. how do i start to fix this promblem?

SOURCE: my check engine light keeps coming on on my 2004 kia optima lx

Check with the place that checked the codes for you. Maybe they can test the IG sensor for you. That might help. Otherwise check all the connections relating to the sensor.

Put trans in works great but has a code po 0700


P0700 is a generic fault code indicating a transmission problem. It's possible it's a left over code from the bad transmission you replaced. You may need to have the code cleared at a transmission shop that uses a different code reader to clear the code. Unfortunately, unlike the standard OBDII code reader, the transmission codes don't always reset themselves after a repair is made.

P1661 - MIL Control Circuit

It may be a fuse or loose wire....MIL stands for Malfunction indicator lamp

The shop who failed it should be able to fix any issue with it as well.

Trouble Code Conditions:
Engine started; vehicle driven in a forward gear, and the PCM detected that the O/D Pressure Switch circuit indicated open or closed at the wrong time.

Possible Causes:

  • Related DTCs may be present
  • O/D pressure is incorrect, or internal transmission faults exist
  • O/D pressure switch circuit is open, shorted to ground or power
  • O/D pressure switch is damaged or it has failed
  • TCM relay power circuit to O/D switch is open (loss of B+)
  • Intermittent wiring or connector problems exist
  • PCM or TCM has failed

What is a kia rio p1800 error code mean?


the code is for engine torque signal malfunction.its either a short to voltage or ground in between engine computer and transmission computer. or a bad trans computer [tcm] manuel says check for shorts or bad connections at the connectors from ecm to tcm then states if no wire problems found then try a new tcm and if problem goes away then install new tcm.i know those instructions are lame but it comes from the kia service manuel. there are no tsb or recalls listed for that code. so i would recomend take to dealer because they would have a known good tcm to try.plus if you bought the car new then the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty may still be in effect beings how its a powertrain issue so if less than 100,000 miles and you bought it new it wouldnt hurt to ask them if it might be covered

Trans range sensor circuit malfunction


Transaxle Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction (PRNDL Input).  

Check for: _ Possibly a connector near the shift lever has come loose/dirty contacts, or there is a broken wire from it somewhere going to the TCM 
- Corroded or faulty Range Switch. - Open between Meter Fuse and Range Switch (C136-4).
- Open between Range Switch (C136) and TCM (C229) on one or more circuits. 
- Short to Battery between Range Switch (C136) and TCM (C229) on one or more circuits. 
- Short between two or more wires between Range Switch (C136) and TCM (C229). 

If Meter Fuse is blown, repair any shorts in the Meter Fuse circuit.

P1624 MIL Request Signal from TCM to ECM.This is only a request from TCM to ECM to turn the MIL on. The fault code is stored in the TCM.The Freeze Frame Data is stored in the ECM under the P1624 request code. Be sure to retrieve freeze frame data before clearing code P1624 from ECM.

ECM = Engine control module (or more commonly known as ECU) 
MIL = Malfunction indicator light (more commonly "check engine light" or CEL)
